I think Nuno is trying to spring an extra player up higher, a bit earlier, to mitigate the need to run very fast, and everything come off. So we are pressing a touch higher, and rather than drop into a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 without the ball, we are holding a 4-3-3 for a bit longer, and even sometimes facing a back four with A 4-2-4.
Not quite as solid as we were at our peak, but it strikes me as an entirely legitimate attempt to develop our play....and could be a good time to do it. We are pretty much already safe, and the chances of us getting into europe are slim to none, and slim is saddling up to ride out of town. Hopefully the work done now will benefit us down the road and next season.
Man U were terrible at defending corners the other night yet appear to have done absolutely no work to rectify that in the few days since.
It’s enjoyable to watch.
We / the ref are giving Man Ure a lot of free kicks.
....in fairness to the officials they are trying to bend the game to help them out. Sometimes you need to do your work in the refs room, not on the training ground..
Some are marginal. But we would want to be given them. They’ll score from one eventually.
Morgan had a stinker of a half. Didn't get much of the ball and consistently lost it or gave it away when he did.
Like Wednesday we've carried some threat when we've crossed the halfway line, but looked shaky as fuck when they have. Though it looked like for the last 10 minutes or so the CBs pushed higher up to prevent the huge gap between them and the midfield.
He’s a 10 isn’t he. I don’t think you can play Anderson and MGW in the same team.
So. Half time. Manure fell behind, and sideways, and forward, and over almost every blade of grass. Without much in the way of contact at all. And the ref bought most of them.
Completely agree. I'd have Morgan off for Dominguez at the half, and push Anderson up.
Watching the HT analysis I hadn't realised that it was Yates who charged forward, leaving acres of space for Fernandes to play the runner into. He did pretty much the same thing that started the moves for Newcastle's second and third goals.
The thing about MGW is that he can do things at a pace that most other players can dream about. Like that.
Reverse swing at Old Trafford? Have we signed James Anderson?
Still, the 3-2 is on...

That was more about the shite keeping than the quality of the shot.
