Alternatively they know they are shit and don't want everyone to see (hear) just how shit they are.

They know that scrutiny will make them look like idiots. Or bent.

...and you can't bet on a transparent process.

So I'm reading (but not sure of source of info) that VaR never looked at the third penalty and there is no audio to review.

    Anyone else seen this reported?

There must be audio even if no review, they are talking all the time as an official team.

One way to improve VAR would be to do what the bunker does in the NRL in Australia - you can hear the bunker giving an explanation for their decision on review in live play. Beats me why the Premier League, being a richer league than the NRL, can't work out how to do that.

If NRL works like the rugby union ones I've seen over here, they act as - game stops, referee asks a question, video referee answers and maybe shows the clip on the screen.

Football is more free flowing (which is part of the reason why VAR is,and was always going to be, terrible for the game) and the VAR discussions reflect that - see here: youtu.be/zfQVmD4EDok?si=U1bCD1L5XvE1mNa7 there's basically three or four different conversations going on at the same time (ref to 4th official, VAR to assistant VAR, VAR to referee). Combine that with a commentator and co-commentator having their say (if we are talking about television) and it would be chaotic nonsense that helped no-one.

Twitter sleuths have spent the day highlighting the hypocrisy of Neville and Carragher by digging up the many past tweets where they have called things corrupt and been slating VAR.

Them saying it was better in their day because everyone would hide behind the manager having a rant and then they'd get fined and move on, burying the lede that their manager was applying pressure as a big club could and small clubs can't.
I don't mind Neville as a pundit, but I really feel he's off base with this one (and Saha called them on it nicely).

So we lost 2-0 to Everton, who lost 6-0 to Chelsea, who lost 5-0 to Arsenal.
    Hmm.

Just thought some more about what this would mean. VAR has already reduced the joy of goal celebrations because at the back of your mind you are wondering whether they will find some way to disallow it. This would mean no-one celebrating goals as we'd all be waiting quietly to hear the VAR discussion on why they were going to disallow it.

I saw that earlier and backs up my view of choosing the frame when ball leaves foot makes massive difference, it's right between the two frames here. So to then be so precise when the starting point is not is such spurious accuracy.

Then the line drawing also seems far less accurate than you'd hope given the tiny margins they are measuring.

    It's crap it really is.

I love the way this makes it sound like it's ok that only one penalty should have been awarded and so we shouldn't have complained.

The obvious question therefore, which goes to Forest's point, is why when they agree that one was a penalty and the panel was split on whether another was, VAR did not think they should call the referee's attention to is and suggest he review. If Taylor had said that he didn't want it as he was satisfied that the decision was correct then that's one thing, but our complaint was that VAR felt there was nothing worthy of further review and clearly the panel disagrees with that.

So, Attwell is a cheating Luton cunt and they should be immediately deducted 6 points.
