Morato reminds me of the Frisbee / Ultimate / Gay Disc team that Russ, Webmong and I used to play for. Someone came up with 'the rule of 11'. Which meant that whatever you did - be it a 1 out of 10 or a 10 out of 10 - the next thing you did would make it add up to 11. Morato is a little different in that when he hits eleven the next 2 things he does makes 13 in very quick succession.
Not that he's alone in stringing awful mistakes together.

Dyche on the radio slating the players for the first half performance saying, amongst other things, that it was unacceptable. Don't disagree, but I've never really understood that phrase. The performance was allowed to happen so it was, in fact, accepted.

Saying same as all of us, which doesn't look great on the summer recruitment - Zinchenko, Luiz, McAtee, Bakwa, N'Doye all piss poor.

  • 9 Jan 2026, 11:25 p.m.

Ndoye (no apostrophe) is in a rotten run of form but looked decent when he first joined, there's definitely a player in there. Bakwa has shown flashes but hasn't been given a run, I'd stick with him.

Luiz clearly has talent but it seems like his underlying fitness issues mean he isn't ever going to be able to play a Premier League season again, which makes him an expensive luxury we don't need. McAtee and Zinchenko can both be fired into the sun.

  • 9 Jan 2026, 11:42 p.m.

McAtee just doesn't look like he wants the ball anywhere where he might be able to hurt the opposition, in which case I'm not sure what the point of him is (given we signed him as a 10/ possible successor to MGW).

I get the talk about him lacking physicality but there must be major confidence issues as well - because I don't think movement / wanting the ball was an issue at Sheff Utd (or at Man City, but the first example is obviously more relevant).

Far from convinced on Ndoye. Bakwa maybe, so far he's done more harm than good.

Most worrying is the fact the entire first half team were slow and ponderous and couldn't give a fuck. Happened in most of the last few games.

If Dyche can't work with the players then either he has to go or Edu does.

Or both. Don't care. This season sucks.

And I'm fine with being knocked out. A rest should be good.

  • 9 Jan 2026, 11:50 p.m.

Yes agreed, and given we wouldn't get close to what we paid for him it might be best to send him out on loan to somewhere he'll get a lot of playing time - maybe somewhere like the Eredivisie. Much of that depends on the kind of person he is though, and whether sending him to another country and culture is the kind of thing he'd embrace or if it would make things worse for him. I'm not sure a Champ loan would be particularly helpful.

  • 9 Jan 2026, 11:52 p.m.

I think Dyche was a short term hire to keep us up with the outside possibility that if he had a stellar season we would consider keeping him on, and I'm sure he knows that.

Edu is clearly a bigger problem. I don't think Arsenal were super fussed about us poaching him, if they had been they would have been able to keep him. On every level - finance, profile, cachet - they are a better proposition than us.

  • 10 Jan 2026, 12:07 a.m.

I would be sticking with Dyche until we have inched further away from West Ham et al. Survival is everything. But I wouldn’t keep him a minute longer.

That said, I can’t get out of my head that the Spurs game was less than a month ago.. Tactics were effective, football was decent, result was good. Spurs admittedly were shit. (But no more shit than Fulham, West Ham or Everton.) So he must have had some idea. But it just seems like another life.

  • 10 Jan 2026, 12:24 a.m.

I would give Dyche the rest of the season. But barring a spectacular run of form I don't think he will or should be here next season.

Also, the thread title concerns me. Not in a silly Talkback way, but in the fact that we apparently don't have any kids to play in a match like this, and that we have none on loan to my knowledge who are tearing it up in the lower leagues. I worry that our Academy is faltering. I'd ask @Jeff_Albertson as he's generally more plugged into the Academy than most, but I suspect I'd just get a screed about why Marinakis is the worst thing to ever happen to the club.

I can't decide what I'm more fucked off about,
3 manager / head coach churn.
    Millions spent on random players.
    Being 4th bottom.
Contriving to be 2-0 and 3-1 down to fucking Wrexham.
Scraping into extra time and failing to take advantage of our get out of jail card.
Transferring CHO out and him serving up 11 fantasy points.

    TLDR - fuck everything.

Mansfield like Jamie McDonnell a lot - he was doing really well at the start of the season, though I've not heard much lately. But you're right, it's slim pickings.
