Or that he’s understandably irritated. I’m not defending Dyche, whose tactics have been truly baffling over the last few games. I’m far from convinced about him.
But a large number of our recent goals conceded have resulted from errors: misplaced passes, coughing up possession, being muscled off the ball, poor set piece awareness, GK brain farts. Some of that is tactical but largely individual.
But he’s basically saying that the backup players are shit. But the first team have been giving pretty similar performances, in general play, and in terms of mistakes, so where does that leave us?
Like Russ, I think he’s gone once the season is over. Silva hasn’t signed a new contract with Fulham, has he?
I think we are all in violent agreement. No-one is disagreeing that he’s gone as soon as we are (mathematically) safe. See my post above. I listened to his interviews and he’s clearly disappointed at the reaction of certain players. I don’t think he’s saying the back up players are all shite. Although on yesterdays’ performance, a few of them are. I’d be surprised to see McAttee (loan out), Zinchenko (send back) play again. Taiwo should go. Ndoye, Bakwa probably need more time. Cunha should go ahead of Morato. Savona looks decent enough. We will be better when Sangare and Yates return.
Yeah, agree. Unless we can find him a move to a less physical league in Europe. He looks to me much like Foden does for England - works in the City system with good players around him, but not very adaptable. I can’t see what he’s supposed to be good at, at the moment.
McAtee is one of a few signed in the summer that I can’t understand what the thinking was. (I know, theoretically, cover or replacement for MGW but he’s not really anything like.) Apart from we like signing players from big clubs (see also Savona).
I do think an element ought to be afforded to the summer signings. A number of them left relatively well-run and stable football clubs to sign for one in a perpetual state of shitshow. Three managers, and likely four, inside a season is fucking embarrassing and is not going to translate well at elite-level sport.
Footballers are human beings, too, and some will struggle. Especially the younger ones and especially if it's completely new to them in a 'what the actual fuck is going on here?' sort of way. Many of us would be the same in our professional lives in terms of performance and output. The blame lies squarely with the club's leadership team.
McAtee is clearly not shit. Neither is Bakwa. Neither is Ndoye. And also neither is Zinchenko. Morato's a bit shit, though. After such a fantastic season last time, it's clear lots of things remain wrong off the pitch at our football club. That will always affect some players more than others.
In short, I think writing-off a few of them after a hugely disruptive six months at the start of their Forest career is slightly unreasonable. This isn't Football Manager.
Agreed, especially given he's so young. Could be a very decent RB at PL level in a couple of years. He's not swashbuckling, but they don't all need to be.
Am I the only one who thinks Hutchinson was decent last night? Thought he was the only person making things happen for large parts of the game. I was surprised to hear the Forest Focus people slating him afterwards.
I’m pretty sure he had talks with Dortmund in the summer, it looked like he was going there but he wanted to stay in England!
I’ve been patient enough with him and given the benefit of the doubt but last night was unacceptable.
Just get rid, hopefully he still has enough ‘big club’ points in the bag and along with can put down to the chaos at Forest, it might be enough for someone to take him.
