I am not totally up on this, but the first Everton one was heard by a "commission" comprised of accountants. The appeal was a tribunal of KCs and a former court of appeal judge. So if ours goes the same way prepare for the potential for quite a variable decision between first instance and any appeal. This is about rule interpretation which you need lawyers for, accountants quite likely will get it wrong and if they have people of the level of ex court of appeal judges on it they aren't going to just do what the Premier league wants, they will be fiercely independent and fair. It's a bit like adjudication in the construction industry - you get chartered surveyors giving rough and ready first instance decisions but they may not be skilled at proper interpretation of rules.

The first panel there are accountants and relatively junior judge so anything could happen, the second heavy hitting lawyers including Sir Gary H who is the retired court of appeal (he might be chair). Not sure if we will get any of same people.

If David Phillips is on the panel, we should be okay. He still looks very fondly on his time on Trentside.

The Forest Focus podcast seem to think we are going to find out our fate on Friday. But I am unsure why they think this. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

I've seen that a lot. I think the PLs timeline has the last date for the outcome a week after the last date for the case, so the intent is clearly to turn it round in a week. But I assume journalists have been briefed on when to expect it.

That story says we'll know by 15 April.

I know the EPL are saying Man City will also be judged against current rules but I bet a Shady that won't happen. It'll all be set aside as too long ago and in different circumstances that are no longer relevant. Protecting City and Chelsea is presumably why the rules are being changed.

If we don't get our shit together the only rules we'll need to worry about will be the ones that apply in the championship anyway.

Today's podcast with Colin Fray confirms this. As Simon says, it's in the rules.

Tricky was right, this is mindnumbingly dull. I can't bring myself to give a shit either way.

Brighton announced a profit of £122M, a record for a British football team. And that doesn't include the £140M they got from Chelsea for Caicedo and Sanchez, those deals will appear in next year's accounts.
