Not really. Leicester are coming back, we should have gone back. Three of the members who voted for the rules are going down. They expect to come straight back, and none of the other members want to give up their place for them. They want us to know our place and get back down. It's obviously not a perfect system, because they have to lie to your face to pretend that it's a competitive pyramid and based on merit...and where oodles of cash come into the league, to the benefit of increased turnover for all, they will swallow the odd one...but they don't mean it, and they will rig the deck as much as possible to protect the status quo...or at least keep it quoish. Particularly at the massive turnover end of the league, where the greatest self-perpetuated advantage persists. There will always be a bit of death and dismemberment at the foot soldier end of the table...as is ever thus in establishment orders.

But the choice now isn't between us and Leicester, it's between us and Luton.

(And, if the aim is the preserve the status quo, what on earth were they doing taking 10 points off Everton?)

Both of the examples you quote are of clubs with idiot owners that ran out of money. If you can't keep pace with the herd you risk getting cut adrift. I dare say that neither of them intended to fall foul of the system that was designed to put others at a disadvantage when they voted for it.

I'm really annoyed with the club, they deliberately breached FFP. Its a really arrogant attitude and its astonishing they thought they could get away with it. Its not even as if they breached it by buying decent players, especially the first outlay of signings. Most where shite and we have signed quite a few who have not even been played regular before off loading. I'm pretty fine with the fact we get punished as it would be hypocritical not to be but its the fans who suffer most. I am concerned what would happen should we go down with a vastly over paid bag of shite even with parachute money. I don't see us ten points better than Luton, we lack consistency and have a few very hard games coming up.

It's not the fans who suffer most. We've had an extra season in the top flight that we wouldn't have otherwise had. And the joy of an uninterrupted Cooper season. Cushty.

As discussed, I'm not sure we need to be. We need to be 10 points better than Sheff U and Burnley - and keep Everton below us.

Of course you are because that's who you are, but it's a concern that doesn't stand up to the slightest bit of objective scrutiny.

When are we ever going to get value for money bags of shite?
Actually I think we had a few of those in League 1.

It turned out that the ones TGLE bought were actually mostly pretty much good value. Although most fans thought that they were expensive shite. You are never going to figure that out with a poll amongst ordinary supporters.

I think most of the current squad would sell for a premium on what we paid. Murillo and CHO are the obvious ones, but probably only Sangare would currently struggle to recoup the fee.

While all,Luton’s upcoming games are walkovers. I’m sure Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa, Man City and Tottenham are considering conceding rather than be humiliated.

Chelsea have a large sell on clause with CHO.
