Probably for the best. You don’t take ice to the North Pole.

I notice after Liverpool battered Athletic Bilbao, Slot commented "I think in both games we created a lot of chances so that's very pleasing ...... the ability to create the chances and even to score seven goals over two games is also good.". Feels out of whack really, as I've been told pre-season games are totally meaningless, and that our 1 goal scored in 5 games is not at all something to be concerned about.

Arne's just trying to put a brave face on it. I'm sure he would have been happier with two 0-0s.

Against my better judgement, I'm going tonight. Leicester beat Fiorentina 2-0 on Sunday, so am expecting a thrilling victory. Or a 0-0.

Yeah, I'm also going. Taking Little Miss Shady to her first game. She's excited about the overall prospect, but apprehensive about watching the football. I suspect she'll be eating sweets and watching something on my phone by the second half but I guess that is pretty normal when you first start taking kids right?

Depends how old she is, I guess. Three of my kids fell in love with it the first time they went, aged about 8. There’s something magical about the first time you climb up those steps and the pitch and stadium unfurl below you, especially for a night match. And the noise too, although there might not be that much of it tonight given it’s a friendly and only about half the stadium is open.

My other son didn’t like it from the start and won’t go now.

    Hope your daughter loves it.

I thought my first match, aged about 7, was boring as fuck.

Mostly because it was Lincoln City v Sheffield Utd in a pre season friendly and was, unsurprisingly, actually boring as fuck.

I know that I went to a Notts match with my Uncle in 1969 (age three). I actually remember being in our house and him picking me up (perhaps the excitement of anticipation?).

After that? Nada. Nothing. Not a thing.

Would appreciate parking ideas for WB near the Stratford Haven. Arriving about 5:30. What's the deal with the library car park maybe? Might we manage something on the streets nearby?

Use Just Park to book the coop car park, right next to the Stratford.

    Thanks I'll check that out.

Edit: It's sold out. There's places nearby for £28. Is that the going rate??

The Library seems to be free after 8pm, so hoping if we get there at 5pm we can pay for just 3 hours and use that.

If Little Miss Shady doesn't mind a walk, you could dump the car at a park-and-ride site (for free) and take the tram.

Nottingham train station is probably nearest to the ground or, coming from the north, take a Clifton tram a few stops further to Wilford village. There's a decent beer garden at the Ferry for some food if the sun's out and it's a pleasant 20-minute walk along the river to the ground.
