He must have done some impressive sitting because (according to SofaScore) he didn't come off the bench.

The official site says every player there today played at least 30 minutes, and makes specific mention of him having a shot saved at the back post. So maybe get better sources.

Sofa score sounds like the perfect source for a fan like me. The worst sort!

A friend who watched says he was on the pitch and looked impressive.

Can't say as I especially noticed any of them. It was a hot day at the end of week one of pre-season training, and it played out as expected.

Chesterfield were the better side but are further on in their preparation. First half, O'Brien was busy and all over the place (in a good way) but without doing a great deal. Stamenic was totally anonymous and Richards sadly looked a long way off Premier League football physically. Neat and tidy, but gave it away numerous times and was knocked off the ball too easily. Nice to see Dale Taylor play but he got very little service.

Ruck of substitutions obviously didn't help the flow of the game but the youngsters who came on acquitted themselves OK.

First visit to Chesterfield's new ground and it's decent. Nice touch at half-time when they announced that fans at the front of the side stand who were sat in the sun could move into the stand behind the goal which was in the shade. It was pretty hot.

I went to Saltergate one and the terrace ran continuously down one side, round the corner, and then behind the goal. At half time everyone fucked off down t'other end.

Toilets were epic at Saltergate's away terrace. Men standing shoulder-to-shoulder pissing up a brick wall with a shallow gutter at the bottom. No roof, so open to the elements.

    Different time.

    EDIT: Flashback

Yes, remember them, my dad took me to watch Stoke there, must have been the 90s. Not sure what I’d done to deserve that.

I remember that bog. At the time we decided it was built to exploit the local topography. Except we didn't know the word topography so we decided it was built there so the piss ran down t'hill.

Apparently Jimmy Sinclair was the standout player for us. No, me neither.

He's a good friends nephew, joined the youth team a couple of years back, has progressed quite well.
There is a very short highlight vid on the official site (slim pickings I bet), he features quite a lot near the end, playing RW.

It's a good traditional sounding football name. Good work from the parents.

That’s late to join a youth set up, where was he before?

If he gets a shirt numbered C5 then he'll sell a million*.

*Only 5,000 were ever actually sold, apparently.

Interesting to see if Morgan plays tomorrow or if he's "injured".

The green slime growing up the wall should have been studied. Probably a crime against nature when the place was demolished.

I liked Saltergate, when I was an apprentice the college I was at sponsored one of the signs so I used to get free tickets midweek. Proper shitty pie and a bovril. Always had a soft spot for the Spirites, which is odd for a lad from Mansfield.
