Didn't feel it was their best. All three of them seemed a bit tired and, while Greg's positivity is great, I like to see it balanced with a bit more objectivity from one of the others.

As a general rule I find blind cheerful optimism, and always putting a positive spin on things, really depressing.

Mainly because it's those sort of cunts that cause shit to happen, and then leave the likes of me to fix it.

Quite right. Grumpy pessimism always wins the day

I find the ones with Birtles on annoying. He's not a good pundit.

He's probably the least insightful of the pros they use regularly. Although whether that's just because he's been on the media a fair amount over the last 30 years and it just feels like you've heard it all before.

Darren Fletcher is irritating because he has this supercilious air of "I'm a professional football writer and I know a lot more than any of you" about him.

The new woman, Emily something, is also irritating because she doesn't actually offer any kind of insight or considered view at all.

Prutts and Lewis McGugan are both really good when they're on, but its core is the combination of Temps, Mikey and Greg. They don't lay any claims to be experts, they just come across as smart, articulate fans who you'd quite happily have a pint with and talk football.

I started listening to Frontlines of Journalism with Jeremy Bowen yesterday, I would recommend.

Agreed with all that, though I also don't rate McGugan as a pundit particularly. As you say, I'd be fairly happy with Temps, Mikey and Greg.

Re Barry Girdles - I really like his contributions, so it erally might be over-exposure for you lot. Fletch is great apart from his pomposity.
I like the core group, but it's a wee bit homogenous.

I just listened to the Undr The Cosh episode with Phil Brown. I tried really hard to dislike him but he came across really well.

The latest Quickly Kevin episode is an interview with Harry Basset which partly covers his time at Forest.

He's shown repeatedly on Fighting Talk that he doesn't take himself too seriously.

Who could have guessed, that despite almost relentless demonization in the right wing press, on the whole footballers are much nicer than a cross section of people that you might find, say for example, at a Tory party conference?

It's almost like certain sections of society don't want ordinary people to do really well.

TBF, a lot of the demonization of Phil Brown has come from people who played with and for him.

    I blame the tan.

    Chicago: Clearly racist.
