Agreed - South American football expert was good. However, and it's awful to say it, but I find the main guy's voice incredibly grating. It's some kind of nasal East Midz/Partridge hybrid which I struggle to get past. Says more about me, though, I think.

Agree. But on the other hand I do find Arsher a bit irritating - yeah I know Fletcher is too but at least he has a bit more football knowledge to offer.

If Fletcher has said he won't do it if Ali does, then they've probably made the better decision from the perspective of the show but not in terms of not indulging dickish behaviour. It's not like either of them are on every show, so they could easily avoid each other.

Interestingly, or not, I tried to make it all the way through one of their episodes today. No, still couldn't do it.

I usually enjoy the podcast no matter who's on. Usually listen to it at the gym so it takes my mind off the sheer bloody boredom.

The only things that I can think of, in my entire life, that have bored me as much are apocalypse now (after they reach kurtz) and the deer hunter. Although I can't be entirely sure about the deer hunter, because I've never knowingly been able to stay awake for any ten minute segment.

Weird. They had a little bit of an argument the other day, but I thought it added some good content to the podcast to be honest.

What I meant was that the podcast takes my mind off the sheer bloody boredom of the gym. Poorly expressed.

Am I the only one who has no idea who any of these people are?

Lewis McGugan and David Prutton were midfielders for Nottingham Forest in the early to mid 2000s, if that helps any? Darren Fletcher used to commentate for various commercial stations in Nottingham and now does whatever the old BT channels are now called. Garry Birtles played a few games for the club in the late 70s/early 80s.

Fletch is the better guest (IMHO), but should be dumped if he can't work with others. As Shady said, they had a tiff and it was a bit naff overall. While I was inclined to agree with Fletch, he was a dick about it.

Yes agreed, although I thought Ali was the dick in that particular spat and while I normally find Fletcher a bit irritating and full of himself, I thought he was in the right. I'm trying to remember what the argument was about.

I'd still be more inclined to listen to Fletch than Ali though. Now if they can bin Emily off (and much as she may whine about people being sexist, and I'm sure some are, I don't like her because she offers no insight) along with Birtles we'll be in business.

Nope not ringing any bells. Although I did know a birtles who lived next door to my mate dave...and next door but one to my mate smithy on the other side. I have a vague recollection of that Emily...although it was probably someone else, because the collar matched the cuffs. My favourite is that Matt in charge. He always sounds bored shitless. I empathise.

Not sure I could give you an order for Greg and Temps, I like them both. Matt is a bit dull but he does a decent enough job of facilitating. Prutts is by a huge distance my favourite guest.

The format works best when it's Matt / expert / fan, if they don't have one of Prutts / Lewis / Fletch / Birtles then it's just fan stuff. Having an ex-pro / broadcaster balance out the fan view with professional insight is where it's really interesting IMO.
