I think what the last two games have shown is that when two mid table premier league teams play each other, it can turn into a back and forth of one team ineffectually trying to break down a set defence.

Which basically requires a mistake (few and far between, due the quality of the defences), a moment of genius or a set piece to break down.

Unfortunately, our two or three moments of genius came to nothing yesterday but we definitely need to improve set piece delivery to pose a more consistent threat.

Agree. It’s not done Brentford any harm.

On moments of genius, we are, of course, heavily reliant on MGWs creativity. I’ve been wondering whether Scarpa might have faired better with a more solid midfield behind him?

I can't help but wonder what the score might've been with Brennan in.

We were playing something like Palace third team so you'd hope we might look reasonably competitive.

You just know Luton are going to shithiuse a 1-0 win in a fortnight.

Yes, Palace were missing a number of attackers, but their defence (which is good; Guéhi in particular is an excellent player) was not significantly weakened. This “they had lots of injuries” stuff can be over-played. It’s not a fluke that Palace have survived a decade at this level

It’s a bit annoying as we were missing a few as well. Heard very little about that in the coverage.

Danilo, Awoniyi, Felipe, Niakhate are Aina are arguably 5 of our best players too.

The excellent Kelly Cates mentioned it after.
