Still pursuing claims against insurers/broker, though not sure much of a case from what I've been told.

Newcastle and Leicester agree on 38M for Barnes. Better value than Gordon at least.

If Barnes is worth 38M then Brennan must be etc...

I wonder if this will get very interesting. He obviously wants to go to Real, and obviously has a deal lined up that pockets him the transfer fee they won’t have to pay next summer. PSG are insisting that this can’t happen.. but they don’t really have a choice if that’s what he wants. If they try to force the matter, it could go legal and involve questions about how contracts and registrations work. They could maybe find a middle ground and loan him to someone he’s happy to play for for a year, but nobody seems to be talking about doing that and, assuming they won’t loan him to Real, the only options would probably be in England and if they could do a deal it may not even cover his salary.

So perhaps the play is to get a Saudi club to stuff so much money down his shorts that he’ll take a year or two off from being a footballer to help hawk their shitty league, and allow PSG to raise a fee. I don’t know what Saudi-Qatari relations are like.. but any deal like the one suggested might get UEFA sniffing around, because it’s a ludicrous amount of money for a short-term deal with massively outsized benefits to one club (and a ‘new money club’, not one of the ones that’s allowed to do whatever the fucks it wants.)

I was having similar thoughts but hadn't quite composed them so well. Thanks for that. Certainly interesting.

He's going to go surely? Plays in Saudi for a year for 750m, then they are happy he goes to Real. Everybody involved wins, though I'm not sure what it does for the Saudis, having him only there for a year seems to detract from their league being serious more than enhance it.
