Agent Fornah has put one in his own net.

Two bits of bad goalkeeping by Pope there.

For two very good quality sides, it's a terrible watch. Tedious competence almost completely without excitement.

Apart from the odd thing that Mitoma does.

James Collins, the former West Ham player, called it "a tremendous game of football" on the BBC.

I'm not watching so have no opinion.

I remember James Collins. If he really thought that anyone was having a tremendous game, he'd try to stamp on them.

Eddie Howe has taken off his three most creative players, and they are now getting bummed 2-0.

Don't get a sense that he thinks that they are being tremendous.

    3-0. Extra bumming.

Hard to believe it's the Newcastle who looked so impressive in their first game.

And here I was wondering if Brighton might have lost just a bit too much in the window.

They are great to watch. Aspirations and all that.

"It's clear that it's a huge mistake. People that never play football, and don't understand nothing about football. If you are in office you can say that is nothing, that player has no influence in the goal keeper decision." - Marco Silva on referees and VAR today.

"Highly trained officials, at the peak of their powers." - someone else, whose eyes don't work, on referees and VAR.

Silva is an idiot, and if you can't see why, so are you.

Explain it to me. After all, I'm an idiot.

Heads gonna roll at Newcastle, or something.

The more stupid decisions they make, and money they waste, the happier I'll be.

Crying Geordies would just be the cherry on top.

Silva does not think this, and if he does he's an idiot. Same goes for anyone else who thinks it.

I believe it's a rhetorical device, using hyperbole. In the spirit that it might as well be true, if they are going to repeatedly make idiotic interpretations of the laws, that are contrary to the spirit and experience of actions in a football game.

If you have suddenly become an adherent to the literal, we are going to have a lot of fun.
