Israel? (As a reason they don’t have to be in Europe and why they won’t join.)

That would be like having Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest.

    What?

A £6m shirt sponsorship deal (which i would have thought would be achievable) is a £30 million player on a 5 year contract. Pretty much Sangara if he would come.

Well not getting a shirt sponsor allows us a 10 million write off under FFP rules... So if we get a sponsorship worth less that then we actually have less allowability. It's a smart move by the club actually and also the shirts look better. Charities can also be fully written off. Kinda nifty that the club had that knowledge. So we have more money to use than you think towards the old financial fair play. (Apart from buying chris wood for 1 year at 15 million kind of fucked that up..).

I read that on Twitter but it seemed like wishful thinking. Don’t suppose you have an actual source.

but I have little doubt that the faceless suits of UEFA will $ee plenty of rea$on$ to con$ider it $eriou$ly.

They won’t do shit unless the Old Money establishment that pulls the strings approve. They will not approve. They want the petrodollars available to cash out on their own interests when the time comes, not to be given more reasons to keep their ‘investment’ onshore.

Much more likely is that FIFA looks at this and sees a window to try and pump up a world club championship into something anyone gives a shit about. Again.

Decided to turn over at half time to Wolves v Brighton. 60 seconds in and Brighton carve them apart to score. More of this please.

Fulham, Bournemouth and Wolves all getting handily beaten. Probably the optimal set of results for us. Fulham and Liverpool also down to 10.

Derby are winning at home to the mighty Fleetwood.

Wolves look like us at the beginning of last season. Can play some nice attacking football but don't create many chances, and go long periods where the midfield is chasing shadows.

Two officials got injured in the Portsmouth game so they put an announcement over the PA asking if there were any qualified officials in the crowd. Someone came forward and is now officiating (presumably as a lino or 4th official) so the game has been able to resume.

A Man U supporting friend told me earlier this week that they look shit this year and that they weren't much better than Wolves in their opening game, but I put it down to typical big 6 fan hyperbole. On this performance he might not have been exaggerating.

We'll still likely lose next week, but based on an encouraging 45 minutes at Arsenal I think we should be going to Old Trafford next week with a realistic plan to try and get something from the game.

My Man U supporting mate at work is mystified at the Mason Mount purchase and doesn’t see how the team functions as it is with him in there alongside Bruno.

Given the performances so far he’s not wrong.

Might be a good time to play them at the mo.

Sterling has been absolutely brilliant in this game...but wet hams leading 2-1. Predominantly, I suspect because the rest of chelsea's players look like they haven't been introduced. To each other, or the concept of kicking the ball properly. Which has probably been made harder by most of them competing for an appearance in the 'made up name' thread. The 'past it' Antonnio scoring a beauty of course....and two assists on debut from 'I just don't see it' JWP.
