I'm on board with the general theory, but last night's one was about as penalty as a penalty can be wasn't it? What bit was dubious?

I didn't see a definitive view that it was even in the area - and it was also very soft (arms in a natural position to make the jump/attempted block)
Both MotD pundits (Warnock, who is good, although I can't stand his voice, and Murphy, who is fcukin awful) thought it was harsh and that the sport-washers would have been fuming if it was given against them (not that it ever would at SJP).
Maybe I'm just sick of them being given dodgy decisions because of Gordon/Guimaraes diving.

    Gordon diving

It's really really bad. Howe seems to instill it in them. They're a bunch of cheats. Joelinton got booked for a clear dive and had the tenacity to argue with the referee about it. He should have been ashamed not angry.

Notice that Brentford have quietly made their way to 5th place despite losing their two top scorers and their manager in the summer and having a rookie in charge.

Have you been talking to Sean?

I've only just noticed Brentford's stealth climb up the league.

A fun evening. Goals galore, late winners, 3 reds and even cards for Pep, Parker, Silva and whoever was in charge of Chelsea tonight (plus Nuno last night).
The season of goodwill to all men is well and truly over.

Add Arteta to the card fest.

Martinelli lucky to only get yellow there. What a dickhead.

Martinelli when he burst onto the scene as a youngster seemed like a lovely young man. That was just horrible. What the hell was he thinking? Is Arteta pumping them full of steroids to make them super aggressive. That actually was one of the worse things I have seen. I actually hope the Prem give him a retrospective ban. He could have very well made that injury way worse... What a twat.

Arteta seems very unlikeable. I think it is showing in the players. Shame because they have such talent...

Anyway, let's wind the cunts up when we play them. Calling Agent Yatesy!!!!!

It's stupid but I don't doubt a fair number of our fans would react in the same way (or if our players were smiling and hugging him after we'd lost).

It's too late now, especially if he's on the brink, but I wonder if the best signings West Ham could have made would have been Nuno's staff? He cuts a lonely figure at the moment and the West Ham players' relationship with him is in stark contrast to the mood at Forest for most of last season.

Maybe, but there was a suggestion that his staff fell out with him because they didn't want to leave Forest while he was engineering his exit. So it may not have been an option.

This is true but it’s totally idiotic. What the hell is wrong with being friendly to the opposition after the match? If it displeases the Neanderthals watching from the sidelines all the more reason to do it, so fuck ‘em.

See also; scything someone down in the match and not checking if he’s alright / helping him up afterwards. It doesn’t make you any less competitive if you show a bit of decency to someone ffs.

The Pablo Felipe line is interesting.
    July 2024 - cost Getafe £250,000
    Jan 2026 - cost Wet Sham £21m
Especially when you see he has the same agent, Jorge Mendes, as Nuno.
