Because the context was the next 5-10 games slash X'mas period - which he will not be available for. So discussing him is .... meh.

Sorry, mindfart earlier; I'd missed a win somehow. My table is over 5 games not 6, but the point remains that we should really stop panicking over a crap performance away at Everton.

Indeed. And even last 10 (which still includes Sunderland, Newcastle & Chelsea under Postecoglu) we match West Ham & outperform Fulham, [Liverpool], Leeds, Burnley & Wolves.

Yeah but Nuno's really turned things around at West Ham (last 4: draw at Bournemouth, with terrible looking stats, a rare win for Liverpool, a good draw at Old Trafford and a draw with Brighton in a horrible performance redeemed by a good goal by their best player by far).

Mo Salah, left out of Liverpool's squad for their game with Inter Milan this evening, has posted quite a provocative picture of himself alone in the gym at the club's training complex.

Looks like either he's done or the first-team coach is.

EDIT: some wag on the socialz has captioned it 'You'll never work out alone' which made me snigger

We've all gone a bit febrile haven't we? Man trains in gym. Not really a smoking gun. YMMV.

    So do the club.

The only collateral damage here is the gaslit public.

You don't make friends with Salah, you don't make friends with Salah...

Sure, but we can all play that game: "Dyche has really started to turn things round at Forest. Last 5, comfortable win vs Leeds (who have since shown that they are no mugs), biggest win at Anfield in Forest history, reasonable performance vs Brighton undone by 2 errors, routine win at Wolves in a terrible game, poor performance at Everton. Scored 10 goals in the process (only 7 in the previous 10 league games), & conceded 6 (19 in previous 10) - both of which suggest that things are starting to turn after a disastrous start."

Depends on whether you're Eeyore, I guess.

  • 9 Dec 2025, 3:38 p.m.

To be clear, the point i was making is that Nuno hasn't really turned it round - they won back to back home games against Newcastle and Burnley but otherwise there's not much there.

Beyond having a magic wand, that turns cart horses into Olympic sprinters overnight, the coaching gains are going to be limited.

We have a bit more scope.... And given we are now ahead I would definitely fancy us versus them. Injury notwithstanding. Particularly given that we have similar standard coaching as well.

Seeing as you’ve been quoting me and, in part, using my pessimism to fuel your assertion about fans being fickle doom merchants, I thought I’d better respond. I’m glad that you’ve trawled through some recent data: it brings back the old BR Archive days.

I fully understand that we have the longest injury list in the league, we are on our third manager and that results can go up as well as down. I also note that Opta only have us as fifth favourites for relegation (but the vaguaries of their model were plain to see last year).

However, we have not played well for a few games now (I know we beat Malmo and Wolves but they were both utter crap). We went behind very early against Everton and conceded again in injury time, we withstood a lot of early pressure against Brighton before conceding a soft goal (again in injury time) and are making mistakes that half decent teams have punished. We’ve not started games well, and have lost some intensity. Perils of fixture congestion and an injury list? Almost certainly. Some problem with set-up and selection? I’m beginning to think so. The next 5 or so games will be critical.

Also: people are entitled to differing opinions….I will endeavour not to voice them in your presence :)
