There was a story bubbling at the weekend about a 29 year old footballer arrested for assault in London. TwatterX raced to convict Palace's Munoz, whom Glasner stated was absent due to a knee injury.
It seems that it was Ivan Foamey. www.thesun.co.uk/sport/37573601/ivan-toney-headbutt-arrest-london-bar-brawl/
(Sun link apologies - it was the 1st that came up).
[Heavily edited to take out complete mindfart in initial post]
As is my wont, I have done a bit more digging into facts (sorry, this is the interwebs: FACTS) to counter-balance some of the gloom & doom in some quarters in recent days [e.g. "we are so deep in the shit..." from a fellow-poster on BM, who shall remain anonymous, via WhatsApp this weekend].
My previous stats were off the top of my head & included some Europa games. Stripping those out, last 5 league games, bottom half of form table:
So we're mid-table in form terms, despite a couple of iffy performances of late (the most recent one in particular). If you discount Liverpool on the grounds that even with their current enjoyable shit-show, they won't be near relegation come May, & probably - though not definitely - Sunderland ), we have made up ground on all likely relegation rivals: 3 on Brentford, Fulham & West Ham (2 points behind us now, when 5 games ago they were a point ahead)) & 5 on Leeds (level on points with us, whereas 5 games ago they had 11 points to our 6) & even Muff (12 points ahead on 3 November, 5 ahead now). Plus the bottom two, obvs; I think they're already doomed.
Recency bias & the perennial tendency of football fans to panic are well in play here.
The season is going to be a long old slog, I think - but we tossed away 13% of the league season on the Postecoglu fiasco (1 point...), so that's pretty much inevitable.
Like Tricky, I remain confident that Dyche will keep us up. I really don't give a fuck whether it is pretty or not.
And I cannot believe (actually, I can) that one of our fans has just written "Meh" about the return of Ola Aina, one of last season's best players in his position in the whole league and in an area where we lack experience & cover.
