See the excuses are coming in early this year:
Arteta “In terms of numbers, we’re short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad “.
Howe: “loss of sporting directors Ashworth and Mitchell has wrecked Toon transfer plans “. (Two sporting directors in two summers - maybe something rotten in the Kingdom of the North East).

Not strictly speaking other club news per se (yet), but I read this morning that everyone's favourite duty free magnate fairytalists Kin Power are evidently in a bit more financial bother (presumably) as are closing a number of outlets.

I hope this doesn't have any adverse knock on effect to the extremely well run family oriented wholesome football club of theirs who have had some really rather dreadful luck of late through no fault of their own.

Isak has apparently told Newcastle he wants to leave and has a ‘thigh injury’ missing the pre season tour. Which is quite amusing.

This is quite an interesting comment on the BBC website about Wolves. I know nothing about the signings they have made, but we seem to be struggling to step into the upper tier of transfers and the suggestion here is that Wolves had similar struggles, made some errors and have reverted back to a lower tier market where they have previously had more success.

    Quoted message:

Wolves' signing of Colombia international Jhon Arias continues their shrewd business

The winger has joined from Fluminense in a deal worth up to £19m.

The days of Wolves spending over £40m on individual players has gone, with the £44m record signing of Matheus Cunha in 2023 likely to stand for a while.

This window attacker Fer Lopez has arrived for up to £19m from Celta Vigo while last summer midfielder Andre - who played with Arias at Fluminense - joined for around £17m.

Centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou joined from Reims in January for £16.6m and played a large part in ensuring Wolves avoided relegation.

They are all 'mid-range' fees with Wolves looking to pay sensible money for players who can make an instant impact, having been burned by big-money signings who have not lived up to their price-tags.

Midfielder Goncalo Guedes joined for £38m from Valencia in 2022 but struggled and has been loaned to Benfica and Villarreal while Matheus Nunes arrived from Sporting Lisbon for a similar fee and rarely shone despite then earning a move to Manchester City two years ago.

Wolves are still looking for a replacement for right-back and captain Nelson Semedo while another forward to compete with Jorgen Strand Larsen is wanted.

    EXCITING THREAD CROSSOVER ACTION!

In other 'other club' forum related news, against my better judgement I had a brief nosey at Foxes Talk earlier, partly out of curiosity about King Power, partly to see if there's a 'Cifuentes Out' thread yet (there isn't), but mainly for the schadenfreude lolz.

Anyway, they have a thread titled "How do you think the football world views the current Leicester city "

    Paging ingo.....

Forgive the Twatter link, but this is amusing. Had the bloke wound tighter than a watch spring. Sounded like he soiled himself at one point...

This got me thinking of what the tinned meat of Nottingham might be? This lead me to thinking about the tinned stewed steak we used to get in the 80s and then to discover you can still buy it.
