It’s so cute that you still hold out hopes of Champions League. How do you cope with the expectation/despondency cycle?

Says Mr mathematical certainty.
Maybe we are due some karma after the Lamouchi season where we missed out on the playoffs due to a crazy goal difference swing.
Very badly, are you new round here?
That Dr Mathematical Certainty to you.
The mathematical certainty principle only applies to (a) relegation and (b) automatic promotion. Although I may have argued that CL was not mathematically certain despite a six point cushion when certain people were wanking like chimps about which European superstar we were going to be signing once we qualified. Russ calls this negativity. I call it data driven.
And for the record, I’m not the one veering from “we’ve fucked it up” to “let’s hope Villa or Newcastle don’t win” after a win at West Ham and 6 pints of Madri.
Methinks she doth protest too much.
EL sounds fun anyway.
Was my post too long for you to read?
I can't believe people are turning their noses up at the conference league. We'd stand a decent chance of winning it and the club has only played 8 seasons in Europe in its history (and three of them ended in the first round).
My main issue with conference league is we have to win a play off to get in it, so first round exit is entirely possible.
With Europa at least we get a chunk of games (6 or 8 I've not looked it up?).
Nobody is, are they?
Jeez, don’t get him started.
Quite galling that people keep saying what an amazing job Slot has done, and how nobody imagined that liverpool would do as well, while now making them favourites for next year*. I'm not surprised that a new voice, and a tweak in playing style, means that they have improved (changed...they haven't really accumulated any more points than they habitually did under klopp). As I often observe here, teams are most often at their most potent when they have a blend of some new stuff, while the methods and habits of the old coaching regime are still fully present. The real test will be when there are a few changes in personnel, and a more consistent application of only new principles and values (and the rest of the league is not as shit).
* Quite frustrating, the quality of professional punditry, mostly relying on 'tomorrow will be like today'** level insight.
** Understandable to a degree. As tomorrow is more often than not a lot like today.

See also Forest being predicted for a top-eight finish next season.
I want the Spuds today because they are going to be fine financially anyway and it would be hilarious for Utd who are currently struggling to stay in PSR to not be able to buy Cunha. Delap and some other fancy fucker for oodles of money when they are skint.
Fuck them the jammy bastards.
Also Brennan. Ange is gettng sacked anyway and I am sure they will be better next season and we aren't buying him back so Jonno to inflict maximum damage to moneybags Utd tonight so they have to sell to buy and nobody buys and they cannot get anyone we want. Sweet! Also Spuds win without Kane which would be funny.
