I'm going to drink to forget we lost to these dancing fuckers.

  • 17 May 2025, 6:31 p.m.

Seems mad after the season we’ve had we’ll be in lower ranked Europe competition than Man U or Spurs and Palace.

I think it was Russ who said we were being negative when many saw this happening weeks ago. All very Forest.

Yes it’s been a great season, but also now feels a huge missed opportunity for me. And I will continue to hark back to the Jan transfer window, for whatever reason we didn’t strengthen and we’ve paid the price.

  • 17 May 2025, 6:33 p.m.

I forgot there’s a play off for Conference.
    Fuckity fuck.

  • 17 May 2025, 6:35 p.m.

We will lose the playoff v Shamrock Rovers.

  • 17 May 2025, 6:48 p.m.

And of course the guy who opened the scoring that day wasn't even in the squad today.
I might have to watch SAMBA SAMBA SAMBA again. Several times.

You were being negative. The fact that it might end up being correct doesn't make it not negative, nor does it make my actual complaint, that your negativity was and is tedious, any less true.

  • 17 May 2025, 6:53 p.m.

Is it being negative or realistic (small squad running out of steam)?

Isn't happy clappy over positive just as tedious?

  • 17 May 2025, 6:56 p.m.

Indeed. There were signs. It felt like we were overachieving all season. It felt like it couldn't continue. We'd never really had a bad run, and surely would at some point. Compounded by the small squad it was coming.

  • 17 May 2025, 7:05 p.m.

Dunno. I wasn't being that. I take each game as it comes and an endless drone of "we're going to fall apart, it's all going to go wrong, same old Forest blah blah blah" is really uninteresting. It seems to be a coping mechanism some of you have developed so that when we do lose a couple of games you can sit back and tell yourself that at least you were right and give yourselves a pat on the back.

Boring. Try being optimistic. It's just sport, it isn't personal. They're not doing it specifically to annoy you, and you don't need to deploy defensive tactics to be able to handle the defeats. More importantly, I don't think it's necessary to continually tell anyone within earshot how things are just about to go off the rails any minute now, and then sit there saying "I told you so" when they do.

    Sure.

But it’s also fairly naive to behave as if our position after 30 games will be the same after 38 games and bang on about Champions League football etc which a lot of people were. Personally, I found it to embarrassing hubris. Pride/fall and all that.

    So each to their own

No one wanted to be right, it just looked like we were going to go on a bad run due to injuries and the way we were playing and we did. I’m not sure anyone has given the big un about it happening, just expressing a bit of a disappointment whilst also acknowledging it’s been a fantastic season beyond what we’d hoped.

  • 17 May 2025, 7:24 p.m.

I saw somewhere that based on the coefficients our likeliest outcome is a home and away playoff v Sparta Prague. Don't know how much truth there is in that though.

  • 17 May 2025, 7:30 p.m.

We have an office in Prague and I am overdue a visit, so I'm now well up for this.

  • 17 May 2025, 7:31 p.m.

I thought about asking whether everyone would've preferred Championsandfriends league but no cup run or cup run Wembley visit excitement and a lesser Euro competition, but I decided to punch myself in the face instead.

Who says they are mutually exclusive? It's arguable that our two most successful recent seasons have been accompanied by our two best recent cup runs.

Maybe a good team in the league, can be a good team in the cup, and vice versa. And performances in both feed off each other.

I would like to see us win the fa cup in my lifetime. Genuinely don't give a fuck about playing in Europe. I care about results against teams that I know, that we have rivalries with, that we play regularly, now as well as historically.
