We hate Luton and Ipswich because they are usurping our "plucky" appellation. Similar to how we particularly dislike Leicester for appropriating "miracle".

Let's get that Forest-Brighton 1-2 after City are deducted 175 points and Liverpool and Arsenal have a brutal fight over the term "biggest victim".

Did Fester appropriate miracle? I thought they - or the fawning meeja - went with fairytale.

  • 27 Oct 2024, 12:13 a.m.

Nah, that whole thing was especially galling because of how deeply we hated them already. For me, it goes back to their first bout of financial crimes.. while we were cutting back to pay the bills, they welched on paying for their shit stadium and used administration to keep their squad and nab some of our best players. Every rule that’s been put in place to try to prevent clubs fucking over St John’s Ambulance has been a result of those cunts inventing new ways to do it. And they’re still at it.

I was playing with words rather than anything else, but it would definitely be a "yes, and" rather than "no, but"

Fester were pretty rubbish. I don’t think they will have a comfortable season and both Palace and Wolves are better than them. I think the drop is a definite possibility. So fuck them!

Chicago: Hoping for a happy ending.

All day this. I still tell anyone who'll listen whenever Leicester fucking City are mentioned. Which thankfully isn't that often anymore, and it's clear they often have no idea what I'm talking about, but occasionally someone with only a casual passing interest will wistfully call back to that wonderful underdog fairytale.

If karma is real, Leicester are due another relegation and an absolute hammering by the EFL as they slip down the leagues into abject oblivion and a ground share with Shepshed Fucking Dynamo.

  • 27 Oct 2024, 8:27 a.m.

Leicester have had a 20-year advantage in going bankrupt and getting a free modern stadium as a result. Cheating cunts.

After that, I don't think we or Leicester have behaved too differently in trying to bend or break the rules, except when we've done it we've been caught and punished and when they've done it, they've got away with it.

Fawaz and Marinakis have both broken spending rules at the same time as Leicester have. We had transfer bans and points deductions. They got promotions and glory.

I thought MotD's analysis of Man City v Southampton was a bit weird. Having just screened highlights that showed Man City, Haaland in particular, missing lots of glorious chances to score a hatful, they (ex-Saint Theo Walcott) focused on how brilliant the Southampton defence had been.

I missed the part where we created a dodgy company with a made up address on a Sheffield trading estate.

  • 27 Oct 2024, 9:14 a.m.

Because our front-of-shirt sponsor is totally above board.

  • 27 Oct 2024, 9:22 a.m.

Yeah, they were way cleverer at cheating than us. They are fucking experts at it.

Shout out to the guardians of the game, and the putative governance of it, through the auspices of the F.A. (Football Association, not Fuck All....although...). Without them none of the destruction of the game as we knew it would have been possible.

You are always going to have cheats. The question is what are you going to do about it? The answer is F.A.!

Just catching up on MOTD now. We're being reminded, as a newly-promoted team, that you live or die by key signings coming off. Ipswich have paid big money for Arijanet Muric who looks an absolute fucking liability. He's capable of fantastic saves and suicidal gaffs within minutes of each other. Yesterday's howler in injury time cost his side what would have been a moral-boosting point with 10 men.

I think we just about stayed the right side of that line two years ago. For every Dennis, Freuler (right player, wrong time) and Bade, there was fortunately a Gibbs-White, Henderson/Navas and Felipe.

  • 27 Oct 2024, 10:12 a.m.

For what it's worth, I can't help feeling that Freuler would be a huge asset for us now that we're able to have more of the ball every game, and with better players around him.

No different from a lot. (They also are a club partner of Leicester).

The whole made up company with a made up address was different level.
