Leicester and one of Leeds and Southampton getting promoted saves 103M in parachute payments, which apparently gets equally distributed around the Premier League. Presumably that's an extra 5M for us next year though, so it doesn't really help our PSR for 23/24.

In a fair world it would go to the rest of the Championship teams

Thus leading to a situation in which a mid table team has an incentive to lose a game in the last couple of weeks in order to ensure that a parachute team makes the top 2 / top 6 ahead of a non parachute team, so for reasons of sporting integrity that's probably not viable.

Perhaps, but, the situation as it stands that the PL and its teams are incentivised to want relegated teams to come straight back up. That may manifest as, say, deciding to send that in-demand loan player to Leeds, not Sheffield Wednesday. Or even, a mid-table Prem club not being as motivated as they might be in end of season games that might mean a side deemed more likely to bounce back goes down.

It’s all a little less direct and obvious, but whichever way you go there are potential conflicts. Just another reason why parachute payments should be scrapped and money from the PL distributed equally, not based on whatever division you used to be in.

The SarcasticForest account on Twitter is having a good day reminding people (mainly Luton fans) what they said with regards to the relegation fight.

To be fair, they’ve given it a damn good go and fought to end. Or won one of their last 17 games. Not sure which.

Burnley's momentum is looking a bit off colour now too.

Under no circumstances am I going to open up suggestions to you cunts.
Meanwhile I'm actually watching Match Of The Day. I unmuted the sound to see what Klopp had to say. I think he just tried to lead Anfield in a rendition of Live Is Life by Opus. I used to enjoy Klopp's dual persona of everyone's favourite drunk uncle at a wedding when winning / psychotic Bond villain when losing. Then he dumped the specs and it wasn't the same. Auf Wiedersehen Jurgen, I can't help but hope Liverpoo fall apart without you.

I enjoyed the stat @JRs_Cigarette mentioned to me and I've since seen on Twitter - Burnley have been in the relegation zone since the 4th minute of PL opening night and never left.
