2-0. Palmer again. He's some player - 21 goals now this season.

Then Palmer misses an open goal from 2 yards out. Then he scores again.

Chelsea should be eternally grateful for the existence of Phil Foden.

...ultimately a good goal. Starting with one of the worst free kick routines you might ever hope to see in professional football.

It was hilarious. Fake the first taker to make three of your own players step offside, so the second taker has to play it sideways for a cross from a different angle, which the recipient doesn't fancy so he plays it back to the free kick taker who is now being closed down, while the players in the box stand around wondering what the fuck's going on.

On this form, I kinda want Palmer in the England team this summer. But I can't really make space for him. It's a great problem to have.

Whilst I'm on England - I'd have Eze in the squad ahead of Rashford at the moment. But Southgate won't.

Pickford doing his best to help Palmer's case.

Left: Grealish, Foden. Right's Saka, Palmer. Half of those also providing options elsewhere. Rashford should be nowhere near it. Sterling has a better case for inclusion, and he has no case currently.

Palmer's hat trick is both natural (3 in a row) and perfect (left foot, right foot, header). That can't happen too often.

Am I alone in not rating Grealish? His view of space is that it is his to run into - and sod all other options - until there is no more space, at which point he looks for a leg to fall over. No wonder Man Citeh bought Doku, who was a massive upgrade until he got injured a couple of months back and hasn't quite been the same.

Also all in one half, so passes the german test.

Can we borrow him for Sunday?

I see you. my argument for my selection would be that Grealish offers the natural width and dribble, and doesn't give the ball away much at all. As does Saka on the other side. Foden and Palmer are more give and go and threaded passes. So variety of options.

I'm pleased that I'm not invisible. It's also possible that my view of Grealish is marginally coloured by off field cuntitude.

    ..a fourth.

Dyche is in chewing a wasp mode.

What cuntitude does he do off the pitch? I thought the new wisdom is they he is somewhat misunderstood?

He’s become a worse player at Citeh. He rarely dribbles now and seems to receive the ball wide and then lay it inside or backwards, presumably as an outlet to stretch the defence. He used to do what Doku does now but with a more predictable final product.
