My non league side (Harborough Town) were top going into today’s home game against second bottom Rushden and Diamonds. (They have fell to Step 4 of non league).
We lost 2-0 after wasting so many chances and are now second with 5 games to go. Only one team gets promoted and others into a playoff.
I’d just like to point out that a promotion race is as equally as unenjoyable as a relegation battle. Why do we do this.
I think the answer is a number of things. Part tribal, part frisson from the jeopardy, part striving against the odds toiling endlessly at the coal face for a meager return, part ultimate triumph won (however that may be measured) being sweeter than living in clover.
Unless you are the sort of milky fucker who supports manure for the success, and whines like a bitch if you have to do something to actually deserve it.
