This is true but the compensation is that ManU didn't win the title in my lifetime until I was in my 20s.
..my early memories are of them being relegated, then spending more than anyone else in the league to be mostly bang average. My favourite F.A. Cup final was when arsenal beat them in '79. I always was against them because of their spending power taking the best players from other teams..but that only became a keener (ahem) problem when they started winning things.
Leeds I was a childhood fan living that way...and I hated them because of their cunty fans and their atrocious behaviour...sufficient that I became not a fan.
I understand that Russ can't see with his framework of values and feelings why anybody would dislike them...but suspect this might be an outlier view for anyone wired up right. I'm not sure how stating a personal lack of empathy advances the argument. These are two highly dislikeable clubs, for a range of reasons. Of course one might be personally more or less affected.
If you can't be annoyed purely by the pre-eminence of manure bias in media coverage, then I'm not sure that anyone can help you.
I'll add a reason to hate Leeds - Kemar Roofe punching in a late equaliser at Elland Road one year. Cheating bastard.
I'm tempted to throw in Simon Grayson as well, although it seems it's 12 years since he managed there.
A mere blink of an eye in football grudges. I still haven’t forgiven Newcastle for the pre-Clough FA Cup travesty, which must be going on for 50 years ago. [Edit: it was exactly 50 years ago last week]. It scarred me deeply as a kid!
Besides, Simon Grayson is a tosser by any objective standard

Every now and again his name will come up in an article, and I will immediately think 'cunt'. This incident was 35 years ago.
It's not just football, my Grandad still won't buy a German car or frequent Lidl.
I still wouldn't drink Holsten (if it even exists any more)
How does he feel about the german royal family?
Bloody Saxe-Coburg-Gothas, coming over here and building palaces.
My Grandad (no longer with us) would frequently say "the only good German is a dead German".
My grandma said "nasty race" if the Japanese were ever mentioned.
To be fair the It's a bit like Pearl Harbour gag when it's cold outside is a classic.
The "cruel race" from Bridget Jones is not unheard of, especially among Chinese families, with good, if not recent, reason.
Derby lost at home to Northampton, giving the three teams below them the chance to close the gap to 1 point. A win would have pretty much guaranteed them automatic promotion.
Big issue with this is the teams below them keep fucking it up.
