I imagine that there are haters, but that's not me. I just think that Kane brings a style of play that is not conducive to top teams winning things. Unless they are massively dominant and just need a good finisher. Of which he is one of the best in world football. Until his legs. Are dead.

I'm a Bayern fan. I have no expectation of them winning the UCL. They don't have the attacking fluidity or defensive solidity to go all the way.
I blame Tuchel for that. As an extension of Nagelsmann. Bayern got rid of him (Nags) having lost patience with his weird formation shuffling. 4-2-2-2? 3 at the back? I remember watching one game where Gnabry - playing as a wing back - streaked down the wing, cut back to play the ball back to the full back and the realised there wasn't one. Admittedly Nags had to deal with Sadio Mane as the Lewandowski replacement - and he was either injured or offside.
But replacing Nags with Tuchel? Shit the bed. The board stated that Tuchel had been brought in to 'save the treble'. Within no time Bayern were knocked out of the Pokal and the UCL (by Man City). Tuchel was excused for not being able to adress the Nags mess. Bayern ended up winning the league in the 89th minute of the last league game whilst Dortmund shat the bed at home to Augsberg. That should've been the warning, Even though Bayern bought Kane the Super Cup 0-3 to Leipzip should've been another warning. I think Bayern still have more points per game this season than last, the problem is that Leverkusen have exceeded all expectations. Though the football has been increasingly crap. It's obviously fun to label Kane the trophy Jonah, but I'm blaming Tuchelball for the abysmal football. that Kane's and Sane's individual brilliance masked for a while.

No doubt. Kane has still never ended up with a team that has won anything. Ever. Not even a Leyland-Daf.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 11:36 p.m.

Bayern are still in the Champions League.

    Stop laughing.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 11:43 p.m.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that Kane will win something at Bayern if he stays. It would be almost impossible not to.

But his career to date should at the very least cause pause for thought that if you want to be an elite winning club, it's worth playing one of the other ways... and at least being prepared to give other patterns of play a try, and developing other options.

What absolutely does my nut is playing Kane for full matches in every game. It's cost England, and his clubs, trophies. When his legs are dead, he's shit. Recognise it, and do something else. Or be a perpetual loser.

I'm one of the few people who have periodically agreed with you about the whole dead legs thing. We got pelters from one or two posters over the Euro 2020 (21) final. Maybe you've forgotten. Or thought I've changed my mind because he signed for Bayern.
At least Bayern stopped him hiding beyond the far post full back. And recognised for a while that when he dropped deep other players had to run beyond him. That seems to have stopped. I still blame Tuchel.

  • 5 Mar 2024, 11:55 p.m.

That was absolutely fired off into the ether, and not aimed at you specifically.

I might have a go at explaining what I am saying about Kane, in a detailed coaching way. But it won't be tonight. I'm shattered.

Oh I know. I didn't take it personally. Don't worry. But there are bigger problems than Kane at Bayern.
What annoys me is that Bayern were the sexy football diversion from Forest being crap. Now Bayern are also fairly crap. Kent are routinely crap. Leicester Tigers have become quite crap. Las Vegas Raiders are also crap. I guess I'd quite like one team I follow to be decent.

  • 6 Mar 2024, 1:28 a.m.

Maybe all the teams you follow got the notification that you got Goat AIDS and got scared. I would be...

Better luck next time in the future by getting something sexy like super Gonorrhea so that clubs can get behind that and said, yeah well at least he did something interesting.

Or you could have better taste in clubs not called Nottingham Forest.

Chicago: Fan of the sexy sports teams.

Bayern Munich being "crap" is a bit of a reach. Not at their expected standards, sure.

You could always follow the Wellington Phoenix who are top of the league despite looking largely a bit shit. We'll still be robbed in the semi by a filthy referee call though.

From an England point of view, you hope that would be the case. A midfield of Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Rice + AN Other* should really dominate against most sides. Even then, Kane has a tendency to drop very deep.

(*increasingly think this should be John Stones)

  • 6 Mar 2024, 7:17 a.m.

Thanks, but not sure this is necessary as think you may have covered it somewhere.

  • 6 Mar 2024, 7:48 a.m.

Good early shot in the "we should have won it" stakes, well done.

  • 6 Mar 2024, 9:06 a.m.

I'd be starting Watkins with those players, I wouldn't want someone dropping deep. I'd want someone quick and mobile who could finish. Watkins all day for me, won't happen though.

  • 6 Mar 2024, 9:23 a.m.

One problem for the England manager is that, if and when you lose, if you didn't pick Kane then you'll get the sack.

  • 6 Mar 2024, 9:24 a.m.

Midfield of Rice (holding), Ward-Prowse (No 8) and Bellingham (No 10) for me, behind a front three of Foden, Saka and one of Rashford/Sterling/Watkins (at a push Sancho/Hudson-Odoi) for me - the pace, skill. creativity and finishing of that front three and Jude should cause any team problems.
