There have been a number of protests at German matches recently over some Bundesliga investment deal. Usually it's fans throwing tennis balls and chocolate gold coins onto the pitch. But in today's Hansa Rostock v Hamburg game it seems fans attached flares to radio controlled cars and drove them round the pitch.

Sounds like Brighton are losing De Zerbi to Barcelona at the end of the season.

    I know it's wrong, but I think that's brilliant.

Germany even does disruptive pitch invasions with properly organised efficiency.

I liked the bit in the article that said a steward tried to kick the cars off the pitch but they just drove round him. Clearly they needed Yates push them over from behind.

Just catching up with MOTD. I wonder how much longer it's going to take Eddie Howe to realise he'll lose his job if he keeps playing Dan Burn at left-back. Maybe he's got no other options currently, although I thought they'd spent big money on a full-back from Southampton in the summer.

    Tino Livramento.

Burn is a local boy. Maybe he gets cut more slack. He’s not totally useless, although he is rubbish when faced with pace. And most teams seem to have figured that out.

I also think he's decent but demonstrably not an elite-level player in that position. To be fair to him, he's not built for facing quick, athletic wingers because he's got no pace and the turning circle of an oil tanker. I'd imagine he'd make a very serviceable left centre-back.

He is a centre back, but Howe is of the Dyche school of thought in wanting giant full backs. (Presumably the stats show what you lose in game play is outweighed by what you gain at set pieces). And given Trippiers lack of height, having a giant on the other side is more important.
(Southgate is another advocate of sacrificing open play quality for set piece dominance).

Wtf was that penalty decision for Newcastle. He's offside but that doesn't matter .

Also looked like the foul started outside the box.

Rob Jones as the VAR official, what a surprise.

Baffling isn't it. I think he used to get away with it a bit more but he seems to have lost a little of his (already mediocre) pace.

Livramento is actually a RB rather than LB, but agree they should be playing him there over Burn.

I think Guru's right that the 'local boy back home' narrative was doing a fair bit of heavy lifting when he signed from Brighton. I suspect he's fast using up that currency, though.

It really doesn't take much tactical acumen to realise you just need to play your fastest attacker down Newcastle's left and keep turning Burn around. Absolute fucking liability.

Switched on just in time to see Mason Holgates beautiful assault on a Brighton player, there are worse ways of starting your day than watching the blunts implode.
