Calls for Warne's head growing louder which is amusing because, as some of their brighter supporters have pointed out, they're coming out of a recent, near-fatal administration process and will struggle to fire anyone just at the moment. Costs too much money.

Seen one or two wanting Billy Davies to make a return. Given he's been out of football for nearly a decade, brings an expensive entourage with him and is the epitome of a chequebook manager, that sounds like a truly terrible idea for a skint third division club. Fingers crossed and popcorn ready.

I saw a story yesterday that they have sounded Wilder out about a return.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 2:19 p.m.

There is much talk of that. Which seems a bit mad. So knowing football, there's probably something in it.

I think the obvious replacement is Darren Moore. Well liked at the club, has L1 promotion experience, and currently available.

It seems, as a result of the complete clusterfuck that they've made of the interpretations of the laws of the game to accomodate VAR, that you can now be offside if your team-mate plays a square ball in his own half.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 6:08 p.m.

I've got no skin in that game, and far fewer fcuks to give, but Moore doesn't seem like an obvious upgrade on Warne.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 6:16 p.m.

Based on what he was supposedly earning at Wednesday, I’d doubt derby could afford Moore.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 6:46 p.m.

There seems to be a fairly thick element of their fanbase which doesn't understand Derby's next few managerial appointments need to be good ones because there's not a lot of cash around to pay off contracts if they're not.

I suspect some of our lot would be just the same, but there's a clear lack of appreciation (or short, selective memory) about how close they came to extinction and how long the road back could potentially be. Can't hire-and-fire their way out of this one, you don't feel.

Tricky Are you talking about the deflection off the Everton player that Eketiah picked off from running back from an onside position and then played by vierra for Martinelli to score?

Yeah it was a deflection so again I agree it was very harsh.

Everton just look like a bunch of massive thugs/athlete’s who will try and bludgeon everyone to death. They have lost Andre Grey and awobi so essentially no wingers any more. They are like a posh Luton now.

I really really hope that the FFP laws are applied to them in October and they are well and truly bolloxed as they are cnuts and deserve to go down for cheating. (See also Manc Citeh).

So onto Bumley and hopefully a positive result. Pity the VAR bloke from the Man Utd game is the referee of choice for the game. And we really complained about him after that debacle. Yikes.

    Chicago: looking forward.

Offensive player attempts square pass in his own half. Defensive player makes a challenge, and the ball deflects to an attacker in an offside position. Who is not played onside because the defender didn't make an intentional action.

On the other hand a player can stand in an offside position, and benefit by stealing a march on the defence, as long as any pass to him is made by a player who has got ahead of him.

    Complete fucking bollocks.

I didn't see the game but I just saw the disallowed goal.

    That is utterly nonsensical.

Highly trained professionals, at the peak of their game.....or clueless idiots ruining the game.

    You decide, Russ.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 8:19 p.m.

    Neither. Shit rule, correctly applied.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 8:23 p.m.

Somebody made the interpretation of the law. They are fucking idiots.

  • 17 Sep 2023, 9 p.m.

No. This is not an interpretation issue, the law is very specific here. The ruling is correct, the law is dumb.
