On the subject of Citeh, what do we think of mini-me Maresca? I wouldn’t go anywhere near if I was Eliot Anderson

Anderson is, I believe, pretty low paid, which suggests he didn't want a new contract because surely he would have been offered one at the end of last season.

I'm not. Don't want them getting European football.

Looking at the table, if Villa win tonight, Bournemouth into the champions league looks like the most likely outcome on Sunday, unless we can beat them (ha ha).

Villa would be going to Man City for Pep's last game having come back from Istanbul. Whatever the result of the final, I'm expecting City to win that. Liverpool play Brentford at home, flaky as they are, they ought to win that. That would put Liverpool 4th, Villa 5th, which means 6th gets champions league (again, if Villa win tonight).

Bournemouth finish 6th unless we beat them (again, ha ha) and Brighton beat ManU at home. (Brighton in the champions league seems only slightly preferable anyway. )

    So, come on Freiburg.

    Latest statement from the EFL...

*Saturday's Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final between Hull City and Middlesbrough will kick-off at 15:30.

Should the outcome of the ongoing appeal process result in the Final being contested by Hull City and Southampton, the kick-off time for the fixture will remain at 16:30.*

What a mess. How are Hull supposed to prepare for this game when they still don't know their opponent?

Hull agree, they are going legal to go up without having to play the final. (Everyone else has been eliminated, so they win. )

I don't buy that argument. It was Boro they cheated, so they were DQed from the tie v Boro. And I don't buy an argument of preparation being so club specific that it puts them at a significant disadvantage, especially as it was well publicized that Boro were training for the possibility of a Southampton disqualification.

Yeah was expecting something a few hours ago. I'd be getting very twitchy if I was Boro.
