At least they won’t have to go to Lincoln, which is the worst thing imaginable, apparently.

    Kieran Maguire on Leicester...

The biggest concern for Leicester is that they have already cashed in on future instalments from Premier League parachute payments and player sale instalments by selling those sums to MacQuarie bank.

Borrowed a net £85m in the last two seasons, and wage bill of over £100m in the Championship last time they were there.

At end of 2017/18 Leicester had accumulated profits of £25 million, by end of 2024/25 that had turned into an accumulated loss of £375 million.

Whilst Leicester in theory have £35m of parachute payments next season, they cashed these in January by borrowing from Macquarie Bank secured against the future money from the Premier League. This means they will only earn £2m cash in broadcast money next season from the EFL.

Surely it’s only a concern if King Power don’t cover the shortfall?

Don't worry about that. Leicester don't pay their debts.

Some wags have already been mocking up pictures of Larry Ginekar from old Walkers adverts with 'Cheese and Onion' replaced with 'Cheese and League One-ion', which doesn't quite scan but who cares?

Only the really shit parts. Unfortunately one of those parts is the area in which Sinny Bank sits in the South of City.

I've been there 3 times I think - I thought it was a good ground to go to - the area around seemed fine and there was a "fan park" with food stalls in

Agreed. Was there for three years at uni in the late 90s and there's been a sizeable transformation of the city centre in recent times. It's quite nice now down that end and the castle/cathedral quarter has always been worth a visit.

You're right that the area around the ground is a shit hole, though.

Looks like Rosenior won’t survive until we play Chelsea. Annoying because they looked dogshit last night.

Funnily enough I've just arranged my wedding reception at the Castle Hotel.

It's next to the, um, castle. Which isn't near Sincil Bank.

To be clear though, shit areas are all relative.

The shit area near the ground isn't actually that shit at all if your residentisl areas near to football grounds datum is, say The Meadows and your metric is likelihood of getting mugged while meandering about trying to find the station.

Lincoln has really improved since I grew up there in 80's / 90's, lots of money has been invested, especially at the bottom end of town. Bailgate and steep hill has always been beautiful

The Cornhill area off High Street in particular is really smart now. And the Brayford Pool/uni campus off Rope Walk is unrecognisable from when we were there.

Is Lincoln the ground with the Stacey West stand? I think it was there I went for a pre season friendly, all the Forest fans singing "who the fick is Stacey West?" And it turned out it was a couple of fans who'd died.

The only other time I went to Lincoln was to buy some grow lights for an indoor tomato plant. It was a shithole.
