It's always unpleasant for anyone to lose their job, especially if they have gone above and beyond.

On the other hand it's entirely reasonable for new owners to bring in their own people, and want to make significant changes from the clusterfuck that handed control to them in the first place.

It looks like an interesting project, and it's a quite unusual appointment for a team at that level (very young, elite level experience - albeit not in the hot seat, a cultural departure from the rest of football in this country). I shall keep an eye on them with interest, and hope that for the fans it goes well.

Russell Martin is going to be looking for another job in a few weeks I fear.

This Issak/Nuke hassle statement wars is quite interesting.

If I was Liverpool I'd table a lower bid, stating the player is not worth what he was a week ago.

I think there's another angle on the whole Newcastle / Isak thing that I haven't seen mentioned, which is that while Eddie Howe is undoubtedly a good manager they seem to be consistently hiring and losing their DoF / Sporting Director despite having some pretty well rated guys in the job, and despite clearly having the money they keep managing to not build very effectively. I wonder if behind the scenes Howe is a bit of a cunt who a lot of players and staff with options decide isn't for them.

Speculating, there may be some underlying issues with Saudi not really needing Newcastle. I wonder whether there are some second thoughts about the "project" and the purposes of it.

I have thought, for some time, that it might occur to them at some point that it might be cheaper to financially dope saudi clubs, and buy their entry to the champions (sic) league, than get nuke castle to the level where they are ahead of the historic mega-clubs, and the already financially doped clubs, in england. It's got to be the most expensive territory to get a PSG level dominance, and probably not possible at all to remain ahead of the existing big hitters here......so they will look at alternatives.

If it's a global game, all about "winners" and "celebrity players", followed largely by gamblers, they can ultimately just cut us out of the process. Community already means nothing. History will be next.

Romano reporting that Arsenal believe they can beat Tottenham to the signing of Eberechi Eze, which would be mightily amusing if Spurs fail to secure another star player from a 'smaller' club.

1-0 does not seem like much of a lead to take to Norway without Eze and maybe Guehi.

Did you go? The crowd don't seem to like Kelle Roos very much. Some good goals for County though.

Poor old Spuds. No MGW, no Eze, no Maddison and now no Kulusevski until next year.
