Don't blame the providers, blame the markets. RGUs (Revenue Generating Units) are a key criterion in assessing telco performance, a net loss in RGUs will negatively impact share price so it's perversely in our interest to give you a copper line and a phone number you'll never use and never pay for. As tricky says we're in the process of pulling copper out of the ground now so that stupid practice might finally go away.

Damm those bloody RGUs. Damm them to hell.

This made me check Zen, which said could provide full fibre, which, despite being signed up to be notified when this is available, I hadn't been notified.

Will leave it until post our Aus trip then get signed up (still with EE as get £20 off each mobile line with broadband so it's worth #80 for the 4 mobiles in the family and their coverage is decent (certainly better than 3 and O2).

If we were getting £20 off each mobile bill our net broadband/mobile family bill would be negative.

Likewise. I'm paying 18 quid across three numbers (albeit work paying one of those), and it's massively more than I need......I have big data packages that I don't really need, for capacity in case I need to run an emergency internet connection by mobile some time. Five phones.

Of course I'm not paying for buying a phone over contract. The least up to date phone software is on the new samsung 24 from work. All the others are on lineage OS, and though 'old' phones, they are within a couple of months of current release android (de-googled)...and a lot faster (at least the two newest) than the new phone. Which when I got it, I couldn't believe how unpleasant and over managed it was.

I shall be bereft when I can no longer purchase a decent lineage compatible phone...and that day is coming, because increasingly access to unlockable phones is reducing, as prices are escalating. Milky, milky. Again.

Lyon (a club that we definitely don't have any links to) have just been relegated to the second division in France due to financial problems.

When it comes to financial manoeuvres in the dark, the worst would be a choice between Madoff or Lyon.
