And now they look likely to sign Delap.

Imagine they have a whole string of assets to sell to themselves to make the books balance.

I’m sure the full story will come out over time but it all seems very odd and sounds like he was attacked first which led to the incident.

  • 29 May 2025, 11:24 p.m.

Does it sound very odd? It sounds pretty straightforward to me. He followed an ambulance to try and get somewhere quicker. Once amongst the crowd, someone took exception and kicked his car or similar. He perhaps retaliates a bit. It escalated. The crowd turns on him/the car. He accelerates to try and get away, hitting people.

He also did swerving into people on purpose. Shouldn't have been there. If a prick in a car is driving through a crowd where it shouldn't be, chances are someone will bang on it to alert them to the obvious that seems to have escaped them. Injuring tens of people, some of them seriously is not the appropriate exit strategy.

Seems to fall into that ever-growing list of monstrosities "things that men will do rather than ask for directions or admit they were wrong"

    It's a fairytale.

Last time they were in the championship, it would have taken a 28 point deduction to take them out of the play-offs.

No Vardy or Dewsbury-Hall this time but you'd think they'd still be able to use their parachute payment to keep them competitive.

But…but…he’s a white, middle class company director, father of three who lives in a cul-de-sac. It must have been a momentary lapse of reason…

  • 30 May 2025, 11:58 a.m.

Agree with all this, though I wasn't aware he swerved into people on purpose?

  • 30 May 2025, 3:01 p.m.

There is footage of a section where there is an almost clear route, and to the right of that there is a densely packed throng of people. At speed there is noticeable deviation into the near side of the densely packed area. By noticeable I mean more turning a corner that wasn't there, than adjusting position or line.

It’s a very extreme reaction to the events in front of him, particularly when you read the ‘character references’ in the press.

Many lives ruined, all for what exactly? Initially trying to get home a bit quicker?

  • 30 May 2025, 5:10 p.m.

I feel like you guys think I'm making excuses for him. I'm not. I'd lock him up for a VERY long time. Total cunt.

What I'm trying to do is say I can see how someone in that situation might have panicked. A mob of people surrounding you kicking and punching your car (a situation of course entirely of his own making). He might have reasonably thought if he'd got out that he'd have been killed. So he put his foot down to try and get away. Which is a ridiculous thing to do when you're in a crowd of people. I wouldn't do it. But again, I can see how someone might.

I did not realise there was footage of him deliberately swerving to hit people as Tricky tells me. That's fucked up. It doesn't really stack up with my early thinking clearly. I dunno what to say. Maybe it wasn't a reaction/panic thing and he actually went looking to kill people. Terrorism.

    What do you reckon?

  • 30 May 2025, 5:34 p.m.

I don't know what the problem is. It's Liverpool so they probably deserve it...

    Too soon?

Chicago: Surrounded by crime every day.

Not sure how you could determine intent.

  • 30 May 2025, 6:07 p.m.

I don’t think you are far off with that, and I’m sure the story will play out when it comes to the court case. According to eye witness accounts people were shouting ‘kill him.’ All very sad.
