Considering he’s supposed to be the best goalkeeper in the world, Martinez seems to concede an awful lot of soft goals.

    Soft wrists*

*In general. Not watching the game.

A draw is probably the optimal result for us here, right?

That or a City win both fine by me.

    Thus guaranteeing a Villa win.

Draw means we have a loss to give and still finish above them both. So does a Villa win, but only on GD. City win drops us to 4th.

It was ok. Better than a Villa win imho.

I'd have rather seen a Villa win, for the reason previously stated. And because of all the teams we're competing with I mind Villa by far the least, even quite like them. Except John McGinn, who's a cunt.

Nah. Man City have a good run of fixtures. They are going to make the top 5. No doubt. So it makes sense for them to take points off whomever they're playing really.

City win is better for our chances of top 5
Villa win is better for our chances of finishing 3rd

It's a league competition. The point of a league competition is to finish as high up it as possible. On that basis a Villa win was the second best outcome, a City win the worst.

City have a very easy run of fixtures and will likely get 12 more points. Their spot is pretty much banked (up to 95% on Opta)
I still think Villa will get at least another 9 (takes them to 66). Chelsea will get 6 more before they play us (think they will lose to Newcastle, so they will be on 63 when they come to us).

So two wins and a draw from the next four and we may be very close before the final day. 3 wins would be even better, of course.

Do you care whether we come 3rd or 5th?

Normally, yes. But this is not a normal season for Forest, who should be nowhere near where they currently are. There's an extremely rare and totally unexpected opportunity to qualify for the Champions League, meaning it's now about whether Forest can hang on for fifth place or better. It really doesn't matter whether it's third, fourth or fifth in that regard, as winning the league or finishing runners-up is out of the question.

    Jim's right on this one.
