Have no idea what League One has to do with anything?

  • 19 Apr 2025, 7:15 p.m.

The fatalistic attitude that everything is about to go wrong for us dates back IMO to our nadir, which was when we were finding ways to shit the bed against teams like Yeovil and Woking. We're having our best season in decades and yet all that some people want to get off on is how it's all just about to go wrong for us, presumably as an exercise in insulating themselves against the disappointment that they feel is inevitable but also so they can turn round and say "see, I told you". There's a lot of donnyred junior on here in the middle of our best season in decades and frankly it's shit.

If Chelsea beat Fulham tomorrow, which obviously we don't want, we are a win v Spurs against returning to 3rd, 3 points clear of the last Champions League place, same number of games played, and 5 to go with every remaining fixture winnable. But sure, let's just sit here predicting the hammer that we're sure is going to fall so we can be so happy about right we were.

I don't think it's all misplaced doom. The teams around us have much better squas.

City today brought on Foden and a couple of others (I forget who) that turns the game for them. Last week we had no-one to do same for us.

We may well start the semi final next week with full backs of Moreno and Toffolo.

Our first team is good, but also over achieving on many stats (which tend to revert back to the mean over time)

So I think the nervousness has a basis in reality, not just linked to some mental scarring from 20ish years ago.

People tend to project their own feelings, when interpreting the behaviours of others. It is possible to give an objective opinion that doesn't include all piss being sherbet fountains, and shit a bouquet of flowers.

I still think we will make it into the top five, but it's a view under some stress. It requires some wins...but hold your nerve...those currently in form will also be subject to wavering (Newcastle did today). We wont really know how our players respond to the thunder of hooves behind, until we look back on it.

It is still in our hands...and only six games to go...and we are capable of returning equivalent to those around us over those games. Absolute worst case - seventh. An outstanding season.

It's obviously unlikely, but I think Liverpool can win the title tomorrow. If Arsenal lose at Ipswich and Liverpool win at Leicester, they'll be 16 points clear with 5 games remaining. I assume the trophy will be at Leicester tomorrow just in case.

I'm looking at it right now and thinking we need to be better than Villa and Chelsea over the next 6 games - which seems an incredibly tough ask when we're out of form and struggling with injuries.

So Villa beating Newcastle is good for our chances of finishing 3rd.

I remember a discussion on here a while back about electronic ticketing at football . Think @noodle didn't see an issue. The below from City is true at other clubs I think

Have to attend games personally for at least half or lose your season ticket. You can only transfer to someone who is a member (at a cost).

And they'd rather you weren't a season ticket holder so they could sell tickets match by match to single visitors.

As Tricky would say the reason the EPL are mandating e ticketing is not for fans convenience. Thatcher would be happy she got her membership scheme 40 years or so later.

I've gone for physical season tickets for one more year to retain flexibility, be interested for those who have gone electronic for next year how it works out.

I’ve seen quite a few clubs have rules that you can’t leave your seat empty more than three or four times (with physical cards, don’t think this is a digital ticket issue). Surprised Forest haven’t gone for that yet.

  • 20 Apr 2025, 11:44 a.m.

Mostly it's not counted as empty if you put it up for resale (whether it sells or not, Arsenal for example).

City (and maybe others) now taking that further and saying has to be you personally in it at least 10 times. Which to be fair should be fine for anyone other than people who have a major life emergency event.

I saw Kieran Maguire say he'd be more ok with that kind of ask if clubs would commit to 10 games at 3pm on Saturday.

  • 20 Apr 2025, 11:56 a.m.

Yep. I have a friend who’s had an Arsenal season ticket for years but since moving near to Loch Ness around ten years ago he hasn’t attended a single game so just sells them the their resale portal. That’s how I got my ticket for the Forest game this season. He keeps renewing ‘just in case’.
Actually, it’s probably guys like that they can do without, but the Man City example is all a bit too nazified for me.

  • 20 Apr 2025, 12:02 p.m.

There definitely are some people who have a season ticket purely for profit and/or sentimental reasons. If they are regularly barely attending any games I think it's fair that it's removed from them.

I did find it strange with Forest that there isn't a limit on the number of games you can do on the resale portal.

  • 20 Apr 2025, 12:15 p.m.

Cubs want the resale to go through the official site (they refund the ST holder 1/19th of cost but charge the new buyer fiull match day price so make a turn).

This then leads to why do we need a season ticket holder at a discount price when we can sell the tickets at higher value match by match. Which is where City/United and maybe others are now.

As long as the global interest in EOL and the big clubs remain high they don't need season ticket holders. And I can't see that changing.

For Forest (and others) it's more interesting. We are transitory members of the EPl not permanent and so will likely be desperate to attract folks back into the ground at some point in the medium term.

  • 20 Apr 2025, 12:21 p.m.

I'll probably end up missing 6 or 7 this season. Friday and Saturday night are shit times to be playing football and it's inevitable that we'll have friends staying or ill be away for another couple. Doesn't take much to have something personal that takes it up to 10.

But my seat is never empty- it's either with a friend or on the exchange.

  • 20 Apr 2025, 1:24 p.m.

I'm going to have attended a similar number of games, if not more than you, by the end of the season. But as I've "only" a MyForest Pro membership I have to buy individual tickets for every game. This season is costing me a fortune. Must be an average of £45 per ticket, plus the £60 membership. Call it £1,500. When you put it like that, a £850 ST is a bloody bargain.

Foolham ahead over Cheatski. That is optimal.

    Come on the cottage cheeses.
