I don't mind Ipswich at all. I do recall that mental 4-3 under Hart as well. A Marlon brace, a penalty, Owen Goal, Howard Webb and many bookings (I think).
Bobby Robson, John Wark, Russell Osman, Kevin Beattie, Escape to Victory, that fella who collapsed and never played again after he scored the winner in the cup final. What’s not to like?
Also probably the closest thing to a sort of similar (relatively) recent history to Forest, being largely 1st and 2nd tier unremarkable, provincial club with brief episode of (almost) league and European (albeit UEFA cup) glory because charismatic / famous manager, last couple of decades being abject followed by sudden rise again to top flight which no one really saw coming.
And their badge is a horse. No one else has a horse.
I don't really know. Probably just the fawning adulation they seem to have been getting. Maybe it's McKenna. Or a tiny bit of envy about Delap and Hutchinson.
Actually, i think it is most likely that i primed myself to dislike all our relegation rivals. Because it is an interesting dislike, given i know an Ipswich fan who's a good sort and i liked them lots back in the day.
Saints are genuinely threatening the Derby record. Their next 6 games are Liverpool h, Brighton a, Chelsea h, Villa a, Spurs h & Fulham a. Entirely plausible that they’re still going to be on 4 points on Christmas Day.
The media chimp-wank over Russell Martin is starting to decline, but you still hear about how Southampton “dominate” games. 7 goals in 11 matches is the kind of domination most teams could do without.
In other news, I see Luton’s “pluck” isn’t doing much better in the Championship than it did in the Prem.
