Apparently the FA are considering a lifetime ban for Paqueta for placing a bunch of bets on himself to get booked. That's brutal for West Ham, he's probably their best and most valuable player.

Really can't see that. The evidence would have to be totally overwhelming and even then, frankly, it seems a bit harsh. A season perhaps seems fairer?
Wonder what happens if someone abroad wanted to buy him / take him on loan while he was banned by the English FA. I presume the bans are transferrable or something / imposed by FIFA?

There have been cases already where players have been banned for between 6 and 10 years for spot fixing in games. If he's found guilty no way it'll just be a year. Life ban is right, they have to try and preserve the credibility of the game and can't let anyone get away with spot fixing.

I rate Pardew. Has a lot of experience. Would do a decent job. Attacking minded, but not stupidly so.

I have a lot of sympathy with this argument, they should leave the PL along with their friends and join the super league - that seems to me the only way that they can get the true respect that they so richly deserve.

The idea that an association can base their decisions on a 2/3rds majority seems pretty uncontroversial - there can't be a way that the courts are going to disallow that.
