The new album by Hayley Williams is absolutely delightful - intelligent, soulful pop music without being poppy or disposable. Reminds me of Florence Welch but a bit less angsty, and for you old farts (i.e. all of you) it's also reminiscent of The Sundays.
Have half listened to the new Taylor Swift album. It's pretty good. Not sure it's as good as Tortured Poets Department though.
Surely a soon to be launched government department under our incoming reform overlords?
I thought we called them tabards.
Been wanting to see Wine Lips for quite some time. Caught them last night. Did not disappoint. High energy garage psyche in the school of the Oh Sees.
Next week I'm off to Norwich to see Magic Shoppe.
If you are serious about PBs you are going to need power ballards i'm afraid.
A range of gigs in Norwich this week. Was mainly over to see Magic Shoppe which was rather surprisingly in the small cellar of a Shop (book) but it was magic.
There was also a festival on. Saw varied act. Kulk. A brutal noise two piece. Adult DVD, blippy bloppy dancy fun. Other Half, discord records type post hardcore rockyness.
Some other stuff as well but forgot what they were called.
Pleasantly messy but not too messy.
And "congratulations". Terrible name for a band
Didn't want to like them as they seemed...... professional? A suspicion of drama school. But they were really good live.
You wear crap clothes like Jasper Carrot..

That works very well even with the luviness
Chicago: Soon to be traveling.
Off to see Sprints tonight. Saw them first in a tiny 70 capacity venue. Now in a 1200 capacity. Literate punk with bite. However won't be drinking as I have a half in the morning that I'm not properly prepared for.
Was in a disco funk kind of a mood this morning so I asked Spotify for a suitable playlist. After a few of the usual suspects, Africa by Toto came on. Not really sure that sits so well alongside EWF, Maze and Funky Planet tbh.
Quite liking Chalk at the moment. Noisy, gothy, dancy
Seeing Die Spitz tonight. Feel like Psycho and Bobbins will approve of this one.
