They aren't really famed for the slightly more upbeat than Snow Patrol but still mainstream self pity vibe I was looking for. I think I should have gone with Blink 182 initially.

Every few years I have another listen to Led Zeppelin IV to see if this is the time it sounds like something more than a bunch of fairly forgettable white boy hippie blues with one remarkable song in the middle.

I liked Floyd for a while. That said I was also a fan of psychedelic narcotics for a while. Those periods may have overlapped fairly closely.
