In Zurich for the night. Was speaking at a conference today. Was pretty nervous, but the girl who was speaking before me got that thing where when you're so nervous that your voice goes all croaky - so bad she had to abandon her talk halfway through. It really set me up well to be honest, and I think my talk was well received.

It was an early start so I've just been for a solo beer and walked round the old town. Now in bed. Probably a run tomorrow morning if I can be arsed, then visit the FIFA museum, and back on a plane home. Concerned about the big storm effecting my flight home ....

06:30am train to London. To save £20 I get off at Leicester, wait 10 minutes, then get on the next train to London. Rather than staying on the one I'm already on (London via Leicester). Hoping to sweet talk the inspector into letting me just stay on this one.

How did you find that option? The split ticket sites I thought always kept you on same train. Time to get a better coffee/breakfast at Leicester I guess.

Pass. Just suggested it to me on trainsplit.com. I think the sites sometimes don't suggest options which add alot of time on? This should have added about 25 minutes to my journey. The inspector initially said no to me staying on, but then looked and found that the train I was meant to be moving to was very delayed, so said fine I can. Which was good.

It will be one of the iconic tournaments....england '66, Italia '90, mexico '70, and now Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Spain, Portugal and Morocco 2030.

Can't wait to get into the fan zone and mix with all the other countries fans, who are not there.

If they do 6 countries in one go it will justify the Saudis getting '34 '38 '42 '46 '50 and '54.

    Don't be silly.

Russia will be back by then, and have spread over most of Europe.

    They will alternate.

Flew into London yesterday for a quick 3 day visit (all work, including a trip to Luxembourg tomorrow) on boarding I found a gentleman sat in my seat, in inquiring he informed me that he was sitting there to be next to his wife.

Not a would you mind swapping seats so I could sit next to my wife, at which I would have happily said yes, just a I’m sitting here. When did people lose their manners.

Around '57. Something to do with Suez, old boy. Pesky entertainer types not knowing their place. Bad show.
