    Or any more expensive routes?

LNER have been government owned for a while and culled savers and super savers and made key route prices more expensive.

So I wouldn't hold your breath on cheaper prices.

I did wonder. So when everything is government owned it will all be the same (highest) price won't it?

You're getting a lower fare because Hull trains are competing with EMT.

In future the tickets will be valid everywhere on everything but there won't be any cheaper routes.

I get what you are saying, but as I've explained before, I'm firmly in the reform line of voting with trains. Fuck it. Let's try something different cause this sure isn't working (especially regarding the climate/encouraging people to use trains instead of cars).

I also like the government being in charge as I/we can moan at politicians about it. They have a get out at the moment that they aren't really in charge. If a political party (greens?) comes along and tells me they're going to lower train fares, I'll vote for them. We might get some effective lobbying on it.

So to conclude Jim has looked to save a thrupenny bit and ended up costing himself a fiver.

Heading back up North. EMR this time. Previous train was cancelled, so there's two lots of people on this train, and this one is also "short formed" (missing carriages) so it's totally mental. Being train savvy I saw this coming and ran for a seat but there's an awful lot of people standing in very hot and muggy carriages. Lovely.

I was quite preoccupied with the concept for a new cycling competition. I liked it.

I did the lottery on a whim yesterday. 3 lines on lotto and 1 on the Thunderbollock.

Five numbers across all 3 lines came in on Lotto.

Prize; 2 lucky dips. Had they been on 1 line it would have been 1,750 quid. Bugger.

I realise the odds of actually getting all 5 together on a single line had I only played 1 are obviously much, much longer but, still. .

Oh and a tenner on the Thunderbastard.

    Which is nice.
