Strangely, I've been pitching on something not dissimilar today.

  • 9 Jul 2025, 10:43 a.m.

Christian Horner has been sacked for not getting his nob out.

  • 9 Jul 2025, 11:05 a.m.

    Christian Horny, more like! Amirite?

  • 9 Jul 2025, 11:20 a.m.

Presume this isn't to do with the investigation? Has he annoyed Verstappen?

  • 9 Jul 2025, 4:35 p.m.

Was tidying the car out earlier and there seemed to be a lot of wasps around. Noticed the bastards have set up camp through an air brick. Decided against the expanding foam approach and have got some powder that will be heading into their home at dusk.

I'm meant to be taking these trains this morning:

    Sheff 06:27 - Doncaster 07:04 (Northern)
    Doncaster 07:22 - KX 09:14 (Hull)

But the second leg has been totally cancelled.

Hull Trains website says get the train at 09:38 instead. What, 2.5 hours later?! Ridiculous. I'm only doing a day trip to London, it'd barely be worth me leaving KX once I've arrived.

I tried to call Hull trains to ask about ticket acceptance, but their customer service line doesn't open until 8am (because nobody needs travel advice before then right?) and the answerphone message says they're closed for Christmas (!).

There are LNER trains in the meantime from Doncaster to KX. About 3 trains an hour. But Hull haven't negotiated 'ticket acceptance' so I couldn't automatically board one. Twats.

Mulled over just going home, but then saw on Hull website it says buy a replacement ticket and they'll refund it. So I've just bought a £37 LNER ticket and am now on a LNER train (07:14 - 08:47 from Doncaster to KX. I expect them to be cunts about claiming it back.

This sort of shit where a train is cancelled and you have to wait for the same operators next train rather than just boarding the next train is, I hope, going to be a benefit of bringing this all back into public hands.

Also why have I had to get to Doncaster before finding out the Hull train is cancelled. Couldn't/shouldn't there have been an email or something to let me know in advance?

You don't get this sort of shit with a 4.0L twin turbo V8 SUV, you know.

  • 11 Jul 2025, 8:42 a.m.

My truck is only 2.0L twin turbo straight 4 but I don't get that shit either.

  • 11 Jul 2025, 8:50 a.m.

I don't go anywhere. Saves all the trouble.

  • 11 Jul 2025, 8:50 a.m.

I was travelling on Hull trains today, London to Grantham, also cancelled but got a text message and opportunity to rebook on LNER because I booked it through LNER website which I'm happy about. Sorry Jim

  • 11 Jul 2025, 9:20 a.m.

I booked using the trainsplit website as it saved me £7-£8 on this journey (and regularly is even more than that). But yeah. Cunts.

  • 11 Jul 2025, 11:11 a.m.

There are, but going via Doncaster is often £15-20 cheaper and only 10-15 minutes longer, so I tend to do that route quite often. On the way home the bonus is a quick beer in the Tap Room on platform 3 at Doncaster.

I did wonder. So when everything is government owned it will all be the same (highest) price won't it?

You're getting a lower fare because Hull trains are competing with EMT.

In future the tickets will be valid everywhere on everything but there won't be any cheaper routes.

  • 11 Jul 2025, 1:23 p.m.

Or any more expensive routes? And we don't know that....we are half a lifetime down the road before we start fixing the damage, and trains will have definitely have been binned by then. No need for travel, not a mass population.

A statement not at all influenced by palantir's involvement in killing ordinary people in the middle east. Yes, the same palantir that the tories gave your health records to.

  • 11 Jul 2025, 1:30 p.m.

LNER have been government owned for a while and culled savers and super savers and made key route prices more expensive.

So I wouldn't hold your breath on cheaper prices.
