The Guardian has announced that they won't be posting any more stories on Twitter. It needs some more heavyweights - the UK Government and BBC, for example - to follow so that this builds momentum.

The Guardian are fantastic. I will pledge money to them over the Washington Post every time now.

They were also behind the pegasus project which exposed a lot of terrible things countries did with their spying technology. I have never done Twatter but I might try BlueSky.

Except it isn't a sequel, it's a retelling of the story from the woman's perspective.

If she tells stories like my wife does she probably started in 1984 and is still making a mess of the story. ..

When it was mentioned yesterday, I binned my account. Hadn’t posted or read it much in the last year or so and feel like that’s a good thing.

Twitter is now an openly political platform. It’s owned and run by (I think) the biggest donor to the Republican Party, who is going to be part of a Reboublican government, and it appears to be routinely promoting political messaging on behalf of that party to people who did not ask for that and who it’s smart enough to know do not want that. Not a single governmental or serious media org should be using it any more than they should be using Truth Social or the Proud Boys WhatsApp chat. Correct decision from The Guardian (a little late to it, mind) and many more need to follow. Ref. a prior discussion here, were I making the decisions at Nottingham Forest, Nottingham Forest would be deleting its twitter presence. Facebook might be a trash fire owned by a cunt, but at least it is not a media arm of a political party.. which kinda needs to be a base level requirement for any platform being used as a distribution tool for governments etc. Of course, there is every chance that, in the name of ‘efficiency’, the incoming US Government might go the opposite way and try to make twitter a necessary part of people accessing government services/information.. but, y’know, that’s for them. They voted for it, after all.

As for ordinary folk.. well people who have large followings that are tied to their income are in a shitty situation but platforms come and go and at some point they will maybe just have to deal with the fact that twitter is gone. Anyone else.. wtf.. just get gone or admit that you’re horny for the outrage porn.

I've been away from TalkBack too long. To help me catch up, can everyone summarise what's happened in their life for the last 2 years?

If Warrior has been and gone then I'll be disappointed.

Played quite well. Toe trouble reared it's head. Generally a tidy finisher, couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo tonight though. Missed five sitters.
