We had a spate of cold calls about expensive new stuff for the house a while back. I'd thank them for their interest but apologise and say we didn't have a kitchen/bathroom/toilet/electricity/windows, etc.

There would usually follow a confused silence, some stuttering and the caller would then end the call themselves quite quickly.

I've worked in the tech sector for close on 30 years. It has always been rightfully lambasted for being a bastion of middle aged white men, but I am currently sitting on a call between us (a Tier 1 telco in Canada) and a partner organisation (a Tier 1 telco in the US). There are three men and five women on the call. The men are sitting here quietly while the incredibly smart women, all engineers, discuss complex technical scenarios and potential resolutions. Maybe the times are a-changing.

Changed my Gmail password. Google told me it was last changed in 2013. It is one of two passwords I have to remember, the other being the password for my password vault. They aren't the same. And my email password isn't stored in the vault.

I should move my email away from Google, but it's a hassle and nothing seems to be as good as Gmail.

So what you are saying is that in a meeting of people at the same corporate level, the women are significantly better qualified?

No, I'm saying that the women were all engineers and the engineers were all women. The men were a sales guy, a product manager, and a charlatan idiot who skates by making people think he's smarter and busier than he really is.

Kiddy stuff. LMK when you've mastered racking up and snorting a line of coke from a CD case while doing 90 on the M1 on the way to a match.

My 20s could have been better spent, TBH.

I assumed this was the correct dining etiquette. Afterall, they literally pass it to you whilst you are driving.

Spent a couple of hours fly fishing on a lake near Retford yesterday. Caught some nice trout but the highlight was a really good close up view of a bittern. Never seen one before - they’re very rare.

Removed a dead baby bird from the deck. Thankfully I discovered it before my wife, who would have spent the rest of the day in a funk about the unforgiving cruelty of nature, or my dog, who would have eaten it.
