I went straight to the game yesterday from my son’s football training.

Half way there I realised id forgot to pack his trainers so he only had the boots he was wearing. I had got fairly comfortable with the idea he could wear his boots to the game when the wife rang as she noticed the trainers he was going to wear by the front door.

It seemed the idea of him wearing the boots to the match wasn’t the best and I took a detour via Asda and got him some cheap ‘crocs’ that he was happy enough with.

Read that wrong, thought you were going to football training after the match. Thought boots might be some Doc Martins, not great for football, then you bought Crocs, for football training. Lunatic!

Mother and sister arrive today and I got a text last night after midnight on what'sapp, (I was sleeping)," eerrr what's your address as we need it for immigration?"...

I answered this morning at 5am but they are on the plane so pretty sure Sister isn't going to get it until they land or not at all if she doesn't have wifi as she doesn't have a data plan for the States. So things seem to be off to an auspicious start...

I am also working all day until 730pm.So won't be home by 8pm. I am sure wifey is going to love playing host whilst I am earning corn.

    Chicago: Brillliant host.

Edit: My brother just texted me to say that my mother was sick before she traveled. This is going to go well isn't it?

While some of the english pay for their new spa by force marching their old folk around a prision yard, chic ships his half way across the world to chuck them down the stairs. There's something deeply mental about us brits, and our attitude to things.

Soon you can cut down on expensive trips to Switzerland and just boat them off to the Isle of Mann.

There may have been comics from elsewhere....but the hostage comics are still safe under lock and key rotting in my loft.

Set a job to copy a backup set, to rebuild a test server, based on a latest backup. It's a relatively modest backup set.

Has now been running for five and a half hours with no sign of completing.

You have to admire the innovation, cost, and performance benefits, brought about by the virtual monopoly of private communications infrastructure companies, over the pub.....oh why do I even bother.

Seven hours in to it, and less than a third of the way through. So it's going to take a day at least. South Korea's internet would have done it in around three hours. Over ten years ago.

My wife is taking my mum to urgent care as she keeps throwing up. I would like to make a joke about American food but I suspect when she gets the medical bill with the travel insurance she has she will be sick again.

This is not a good start to her holiday.

    Chicago: Leaving work.

Edit: She had been throwing up blood. This is not going to be a good holiday for her. Shit.
