My Dad, ever the conversationalist, desperately trying to find something to say, looks at me when I arrive back from the Villa Game and asks "Where there many there?" in his gruff Northern Irish accent.

An interesting question, unexpected and answered with a swift "only Me and about Forty thousand other people", that made me laugh at his utter inability to take interest in anything that he doesn't like.

Happy to report that we got a lot of shit done today. Paid off my clients who I lost to during the NFL season. Changed my address for my Drivers Licence so I don't get arrested and ordered solar panels for the house from Tesla whilst my wife who is going through menopause was screaming at the technician on the video call about money whilst she was simultaneously spending a $1000 on building an unnecessary coat room under the stairs and wanting a $1500 micro-needling facial for her Birthday. Our energy needs would break even in 8 years if we financed through Tesla with federal and state incentives and even quicker if I order using an interest free credit card for 21 months.

I worked into the deal that ultimately our new cars will be EV's and that the solar panels would power them for free in the future. Apparently she doesn't like the future and doesn't want to spend the money.

She's right, I could die soon but if i live our lives will be cushty.

The idea of solar is interesting, but I draw the line a distance short of giving any money to that fucking cunt.

Yes but you would work in Saudi Arabia for oodles of money? Hmm.

Anyway, I see your point and it's not ideal but we shopped around and the Tesla Solar people are top notch and lovely and unlikely to go out of business like some local companies here. The tax incentives for Illinois are excellent and now is the time to do it. We try not to discuss the uber twat in charge because I am not sure he has much to do with the day to day of the solar division.

Anyway, the enviroment and all that....

No need for anyone to worry. Whatever you are doing you are lining the pockets of some uber twat somewhere.

No, we're talking about the Tesla twat, not the Uber twat. Try and keep up.

Yeah, but let’s at least preference the ones who don’t spend $44bn on megaphones to spray their twatrishness across the globe.

Took my car for service a couple of weeks ago, they said it needed the air filter replacing but they didn't have it in stock, and said they would call me when it came in. Which they duly did, and told me it would be $147 installed.

This sounded like a lot of money for an air filter which IME are one of the easier things to replace on a car, so I had a quick look online. $23 on Amazon and about 5 minutes work with a screwdriver.

I reset my ignition points a while ago. I was very proud of me.

Alas, the presently required head gasket replacement appears to require the professionals.

After an 11 month wait I had a neurologist appointment at Chesterfield hospital this morning. It was agreed that my shakes are on the whole very mild now and only an occasional nuisance (my last proper episode was a couple of weeks ago when we had a chinese takeaway and my first attempted mouthful of rice went all over the floor) and there was 'nothing to be done'. Went to Staveley Morrison's on the way home to use the Coinstar machine. My collection of small change amounted to around £54, which was nice.

I think it’s what Michael Jackson did.

Not the Petey thing. The skin.

In reassuring, take-a-sigh-of-relief mundanity, Little Miss BW has been offered a place at her catchment secondary school. It's a five-minute walk up the road and one of the best state offerings in the area.

My not so little one has been offered a place at her nearest high school, 5 miles away, and in special measures. The alternatives were 16 miles away and in special measures, or 18 miles away and in special measures. Though there would have been no free transport to either of those.
