Daughter came down at 11pm. Her boyfriend dumped her because "he didn't feel loved". She's 12, he's 14. I convinced her he's probably gay. Showed her some footage of male birds putting on a display to impress the females. Told her the boys need to be putting in a shift if she's going to be interested, not her job. She went back to bed with a smile on her face. Parenting.

Little Miss Shady woke at 5:50 moaning her blanket had fallen off the bed. Went in and fixed that, but then couldn't get back to sleep. Now 07:15 and I'm knackered. Wish I'd got up and done something productive rather than doom scroll.

I took my boy to watch the lionesses at St. Mary's tonight, on reflection it seems a mistake but he enjoyed it.

The highlight for me was when everyone switched their torches on as if it was a Coldplay concert

    The football was shite.

Also I bought a pint of ashahi in a plastic for 7.30, which I expected, but bought a pepsi max for the boy and they asked if he had ID.

Is it wrong to get a staff member to make their own secret Santa present? Asking for a friend.

"I can't tell you who it's for...but someone is a bit of a dickhead, and we could do with a bad taste jokey Secret Santa present, to knock them down a peg or too. You up for it?"

    No, I think that's fine.

In Barcelona with a cracking hangover caused by Absinthe. Had visions of going for a run along the beach front this morning but think that's going to have to turn into a cycle + brisk walk.

Can you just confirm you were in Barcelona before you started on the Absinthe?

Ha. Yes. Arrived yesterday early evening.

Now to find an Irish bar showing PL games.

I'm part relieved and part disappointed. It would've been a legendary Absinthe bender to start in Sheffield and end up in Barcelona.

My 9 year old played for his grassroots team this morning against a side from Beaumont Leys. (Probably Leicesters equivalent of Bulwell).

As you’d expect they were a rough side more intent on kicking lumps out of our team. My sons the best player (not just saying it) and they clearly targeted him, after a goal the scorer ran up to him and was shushing him and pushing him, absolute nothing done by the weak ref. At one point he was dragged by his neck down to floor as he ran in the box. Nothing given and their parents actively encouraging the goading.

A huge contrast to the academy level games he’s involved in, we had a great afternoon yesterday up in Mansfield (very nice set up for their level). These games are still always a physical battle but done in the right manner.

I gave up coaching because of parents. Was only level 1 but still, helped out.

I thought this was a merry tale about class in 21st century Leicester.
