Some days I wake up and really miss Steve Cooper.

He'll probably be back in the summer to lead the promotion charge.

Then sacked again by February when we're 7 points outside play offs in 9th.

I can't hear you Sean over the sound of ABBA Greatest Hits.

    Ingo is sad.

Clearly not mundane for him (although I'm sure he'll get snapped up quickly) but Henry Winter has just announced that he's been made redundant by The Times.

Now is the Winter of his news content.

I'm not on Twitter (I have an account but I don't actively use it), but I get the impression that while he used to be widely accepted as one of the premier football writers in the country he never really moved with the times and adopted the 140 characters engagement model to drive people to read long form content in the way that journos like John Percy and David Ornstein do.

A friend of mine whose path has crossed Winter's in a professional capacity agrees on the 'dinosaur' assertion. He added that he was fairly sure his Times salary was circa £400,000, so that will presumably be a reasonable pay-off.

    That's very good, sir.

I read that initially as £40,000 and thought "That's a bit shit, but I know it's not a well paid profession". Now I've read it properly I'm really amazed at how high it is!

I may be being unfair to him, but it never seemed to me that he does anything other than chummy up to figures in the game, peddle mundane bandwagon-driven opinions, and generally steal a living the way posh kids do. Although in fairness he seems to have a go at more than the coronation street capers favoured by most football coverage. if that's being a dinosaur I'd prefer that than the tabloidification and clickbait that we mainly see...but you would think for someone really committed to genuine joined up thought about football, from the position that he has achieved, that you should really bang about with more punch.

Mostly harmless, but I can't honestly remember anything that he's produced that justifies the platform that he has. Not that I read him in the times.

If he got the figure correct, of course. No way he could know for sure.

£12 to anyone who can find the decibel rating of "Timbershield Wood and Laminate Underlay 3mm" from Carpetright (in some sort of official format I can send a solicitor).

Supposedly a really nice guy (and was very pleasant the one or two times our paths have crossed.
I've heard £500k, the same as another Times sports hack and they couldn't justify both salaries.

Parked up in the car park of daughter's school, waiting for her to be released. Have decided to park at the infant end of the car park as the standard of MILF is better here.
