My not so little one has been offered a place at her nearest high school, 5 miles away, and in special measures. The alternatives were 16 miles away and in special measures, or 18 miles away and in special measures. Though there would have been no free transport to either of those.
It’s quite likely a school in special measures is performing better than an outstanding school that hasn’t been inspected for years.
