You hear of people falling asleep while getting inked. There have been times when doing spots that aren't painful that I've become lulled into a zen place, but I soon get shaken out of it by the next ouchie spot. And there have been times I've been in utter agony. I've never fallen asleep or passed out though.
Anyway, I'm very proud of you Jim. Welcome to the club.

The pain of being tattooed isn't the reason I do it, but it's definitely an important part of the process.
Does anyone else feel like Frank Grimes in all this?

I just had another tattoo done a couple of weeks ago. Didnt get my first until relatively late in life. Each tattoo is with a different artist and has some sort of story associated with it.
First was by mate Charlie who used to be my dealer in a previous life.
Second was designed by Carlos Ezquerra and inked at a studio another chum from that life had a share in.
Third was by the then girlfriend of one of our team who was just qualified.
Fourth was Sex Gang Children logo, because it's a cool skeleton, inked by a local studio
Latest one is a stoned Dylan the Rabbit, inked by one of my daughters friends who is early in his career but clearly has some skill.
Ill get one more on my arms before moving to my chest I think. Might take a few years of pondering.
I get to take the Saniderm off my arm today, it's always the best bit because it's the cleanest and freshest a tattoo ever gets to look.

As opposed to suburban family patriarch Dylan the rabbit?
Tattoo been a bit red and sore today this afternoon/evening. Text my sister in law who has many. Didn't realise I should be putting cream on every few hours. The aftercare instructions only mentioned daily. So I'd put some on at 8am then nothing since. It now feels a bit less angry.
Make sure it's a water based moisturizer, and unscented. The wrong cream can pull ink back out before the tattoo has healed over properly, especially this early. Tbh I don't apply any cream for three days, just keep it well covered.

They said Bepanthen I've so I've started doing that every few 3-4 hours.
Regarding covered, you mean from the sun, and just with a shirt right? They said only cling film was needed for the first night, but not after that. I've had a short sleeved t-shirt on most of today, but been indoors mostly.
Tomorrow we are going to be in a pub garden all day, so I should wear something long sleeved?
Not familiar with Bepanthen but a quick google tells me they do a tattoo specific cream, so it will be fine.
I keep my dressing on for three days, but again I'm using saniderm which is very different to clingfilm. I haven't done clingfilm in a long time but your studio knows what they're doing, so if they said take it off today then I'm sure that's fine.
As to sitting in the sun, of course you want to show it off because it's entirely normal that you do but you definitely should wear long sleeves in the sun tomorrow. It's way too fresh to expose to the sun, it's basically an open wound right now and the slightest bit of sunburn will not be good for it. The risk is that you'll end up with inconsistent and patchy ink - you have quite thick linework so it will be noticeable if that does happen. And slathering it in factor 60 is also not going to be the right answer because sunscreens are not designed to be applied to damaged skin, you'll run the risk of harming the healing process. In the next few days it's going to start getting flakey and itchy, once you're through that stage the top layer of skin will have properly healed and then you can think about putting sunscreen on and letting it see sun.
Sorry to disappoint, you're just going to have to roll your sleeve up to show your mates and then roll it back down again.
Where's Florist gone?
Eloped with RC?
Went to watch the netball today as Little Miss BW was one of the ball girls. Forest (fifth in the league) were excellent and had a little too much for Loughborough (third).
I can't say as I know much about netball but Forest were impressive. Good fun, too. It's our second game and we'll definitely be back.
My sister was probably officiating it. I'm sure it's not difficult to get anyway, but in all seriousness if your girls want any signed stuff or a meet and greet with the team or anything like that drop me a message, she'd absolutely be happy to arrange it.
